Is there a 996.2 GT3 time?

I think the official Porsche time for the 996.2 C2 was 8:17 (mine was the 3.6L 320hp facelift version). And strangely, a 993 C2 is faster than a 993 C2S. The only difference is that the C2S was wider in the rear which made it heavier, less aerodynamic and understeer more. At my old local track (only around 75 seconds laptimes), my 1973 911 is over 8 sec faster than either.

you can subtract about 20 secs to get the BtoG time that you can measure on tourist days

The Sport Auto times do seem to be consistent and relative, if slower. It'd be a hoot to see what your 2.7 would do. I fear the back straight might kill the overall time a bit.

On public tourist days, full laps are not allowed. The "new" pit entrance/exit is about 2/3s down the long high-speed back straight. Tourists must enter just prior to the first bridge before the left downhill; and must exit after the last gantry leading onto the back straight. This abbreviates the lap by eliminating most of the high-speed back straight section. Thus it's referred to as a "Bridge-to-Gantry" lap, or BtoG.
Timing equipment and video cameras are disallowed on public tourist days. Not that it stops anyone.

According to my extensive compilation as a hopeless 'Ring freak, the 7:32.44 time was indeed by SA's Horst von Saurma in 01/04; and the 7:28.71 time was by company test driver Walter Roehrl in 07/04 for Autobuild. Roehrl had previously done a 7:36.-- in the CGT in '02.

Interesting stuff. Am I to conclude that on a 2+ minute per lap track (ie VIR or the Glen) that my 997.2 GT3 should be 2 seconds faster than a 997.1 GT3 and 2 seconds slower than a 997.2 GT3 RS (considering same car setup like tires and stuff)?

Shorter tracks don't run such high lap speeds, unless they are ovals.

More Porsche data here. 99 is 996.1 and 03 is 996.2 GT3s. Highlighted yellow means car has factory sporty tires for track such as MPSC.
I'm also a big fan of Nordschleife like most of you. Been there several times since 98. Not sure others feel the same but the track is getting smoother and smoother.
