Default Gt3-to C2S PDK to 1982 928 Weissach

I bought a gold 1982 928 Weissach edition for me and my 16 year old boy to enjoy the spirit of Porsche. It will be mostly his car but it weighs 3500 and has 220 hp.
I am geeked to have another Porsche in the family!

Awesome!!! Get 'em started on the path young, that's the way.

Now go watch Risky Business together and tell him what he is and is not allowed to do...

Be good,
TomK

Buying a 29yo Porsche GT for your 16yo son: ~$8,000

Providing him the opportunity to glance over his shoulder at those rear jumpseats filled with mini-skirted girls: PRICELESS!

Everytime I think about the 928 it's the movie "scarface". "Welcome to my little
friend : )". Mike

I think you'll enjoy the spirit of repairs more than the spirit of Porsche. Haha. Enjoy.

If he does in fact have those rear seats filled with mini-skirted girls, that's excellent, although I have my doubts how much would be attributed to the 29 year old 928...

If the kid is a true player, he'll have the girls in miniskirts drive HIM around. AFTER buying HIM lunch.

The car is a good running example, with 64K miles. I have the service manuals. School is less than a mile.
The town is 2.5 miles wide and 3 long . The next closest town in Lone pine to the north ~70 miles, Lancaster 90 miles and Bakersfield 100 miles. He wont be going far without me or a HUGE family discussion.
The kid makes ONE mistake in: Grades/home chores/respect and its DADs car! If he even LOOKS at me wrong and its mine!!! I like my chances of having this car!!
As far as the car goes, I have already have had people go "OH WAY too much car! WAY to fast!!! He will not be able to handle it!!"
The first thing we are doing is drivers EDUCATION at Willow Springs. Get him some education on how a performance car works. He has race motocross since age 4 so he has an idea of vehicle dynamics.

ON to the car: Everyone thinks the 928 was the Porsche flagship etc etc yada yada.
Its 3500 lbs. It has 220 hp. A Honda accord has more HP and weighs less.
Its a cool car. I have a soft spot for this car, and I want it for my sons introduction in to the Porsche world. The insurance is only about $700 more a year with him as the primary!
And ONE Mess up and its daddys car.
Plus we will get to work on it together.
The car is less than $7000

Old Guy, congrats and have fun with your son and this Porsche. I take it your back is better?

BTW, when I got my license in 1981 I bought a 1971 Ford F150 with a camper shell on the back and fully carpeted bed. Told my parents this is what I needed to haul my drums around in.... LOL

I've had plenty of 928's in the past.....

Best thing about them for a 16 yr old....they're built like a tank.

Wilhoit (a dealer of 928's) took a head-on impact at 70 mph with a Honda Accord...he and his wife walked away...driver of the Accord...not so much.

Mike
My back didnt do so good. A new Doc wants to take out all the screws in my
L5/S1 L4/L5 and replace all that with mechanical disc's. Looks good but
I cant tell you how dissappointed I am to do this all over again.
