Why is metal the choice?

I run mine naked. Is that wrong?

No, just a lot easier to hold a tire guage on a rigid stem.

Throwing my 2 cents out there... like it's gonna make a difference 'cause you're probably lapping right now LOL.

Rubber stems will be fine... just don't run a big, fat heavy valve stem cap on them (like a Porsche factory valve stem cap with the crest on it). The weight of the cap will flex the stem, ding your rims up, and potentially could create a stem leak.

I prefer the integrity of quality metal stems, and I'm not trading paint with anybody (intentionally, at least).

If you run the stems naked, make sure you check all the valve cores with a valve core wrench! I've had several leaks due to loose cores. You can even run a tight sealing valve stem cap, but if you check the cores and run naked, you shouldn't have any probs.
