Default Valve Stems

I am pretty positive it si a no - no to run rubber valve stems in track wheels (at least John at GMG told me that)

With that being said I went on a hunt for metal valve stems (need by tomorrow). I cannot find them anywhere for my new GMG track rims.

Next I called GMG (Fabryce) and they told me rubber was fine and their wheels were design for either.

I really want to run my new wheels this weekend, I am just scared to run rubber.....and probably should be

Dealers don't have mtl stems

Did Fabryce win WC with rubber valve stem, wt savings perhaps?

But I do recall his BMW race car at POC race had mtl valve stem. I would like to hear from him as to the definitive valve stem to run on Trk cars. Afterall we don't want to make amateur mistakes v

Rubber stems "should" be fine. The difference is that it's a pain in the butt when you check your tire pressures 100 times/day at the track. It's a lot easier with rigid stems.

I've been running with rubber that came with the OZ wheels, so far so good, but I'll be changing to metal with next tire set.

If you need to do an event with rubber stems then do it and don't stress over it.

Switch to metal when you have time.

The only issue with rubber stems is flexibility when checking pressure.

I have even heard a BMW racer claim that rubber stems are better because during a race with close contact rubber stems will give and prevent air loss. But that's for racin'. I wonder what the NASCAR boys are running?

Ive run rubber stems on Grand-Am GS cars for years with no issues. We switched because with even light side to side contact the metal ones would break, and the rubber ones would just bend!

go rubber, have fun, and dont stress over it.
