Default Anyone DD a GT3 ?

I really love the look and capabilities of the 997 GT3, but I was wondering if it was a car a person could tolerate on city streets, bumps , pot holes ect.

My Sport setting on my 07 C4S is pretty stiff, and I've read where thats close to 90% stiffness of a GT3 ?

I can tolerate the stiff ride in Sport mode on the C4S, but if the GT3 is alot more stiff, I think the car would be unsettled alot on rougher city streets.

I drive my 997.1 GT3 about half the time. More in the spring / summer. much less in the winter. I drove a Carrera before my GT3, the GT3 is lower to the ground and gives a harsher ride, but well worth it. Daily driving does mean you get to replace the chin spoiler about every 6 months.

Yeah, Chin Spoilers should come 3 to a car! My 996 TT tore them up , but its a given in the real world with driveways and parking blocks.

So the ride isn't going to be much of a surprise I take it.

I'm amazed at the grunt my 355HP C4S has on the twisties in 3rd and 4th and even 5th...I can't imagine a lighter car and 60 more HP !

And be sure to maintain a strong left leg. That clutch in stop and go traffic requires a lot more effort than the Carrera. The 2003 Turbo I recently purchased is absolutely the best street clutch with the hydraulic assist.

Can definitely daily drive the GT3, but there are way better DDs out there. I love my C4S as a DD...no comparison to the GT3. For performance and DEs, GT3 hands down.

in my opinion it depends how many DE's you do in the GT3.

I do not dailey mine......I am just too lazy to change out my track pads and track wheels after a DE.

I woudl not reccomend driving on track pads daily

You might also want to specify 997.1 or 997.2 GT3 for daily drive.

There are some little updates on the 997.2 GT3 that make it more friendly for daily drive, like less stiff (yet as competent) suspension, the available front-axle lifting system (to go over driveways and such), availble touch-screen PCM with bluetooth and iPod integration, etc.

Also depends on the specified option on that paticular car, like the seats (standard, A.S.S., or bucket)

In my case, my Atlast Grey 997.2 GT3 is with A.S.S., front lift, PCM/GPS/media-integraton-kit, etc., I can indeed daily drive it just like my 997.1 C2S.

Regards,

You CAN daily drive it, it will just take restraint. Seriously, red line in 2nd gear is 84 mph, wind it up and you will get a major ticket.

I find it frustrating to drive it so slowly. It shines on the track, on the street there are better choices.

The ride in my 09 Turbo on "Sport" mode was worse than my 11 RS on non-Sport mode, for sure. I am actually very surprised how good the ride is. It's quite darty (it follows undulations and whatnot in the pavement much more than the Turbo) but it's definitely doable as a daily driver. I think more than anything you'd get tired of a heavy clutch if you are doing stop and go. And the car is completely wasted in that kind of driving. If you are going to get some track time in and/or a lot of open spirited driving, then you will appreciate the car. If not, I think it's kind of wasted.

I "tolerate" mine on a daily basis. Could not imagine DDing anything else!
