Just curious about the modern Ferrari reliability. I have heard the same good stuff.

How many miles you have on your scud and how many of that is track miles?

8 total track days, over 300 autocross laps (by multiple drivers), on its way to 9,000 miles, more than 100 drag race launches, I have everything documented. Car will be 2 years old in 16 days.

With fewer drag launches I went through 3 clutches in the 996 GT3, 3 differentials.

Maintenance so far: ate 1 set of front stock brake pads in 2 days at Sebring (stock pads are crappy), ate another set of front track pads in 6 track days plus 8,000+ miles + all the autocrosses. Oil changes, tires. That's it.

Rad, it does not count unless it survives 16+ Sebring days and 10K miles a year. Ask Erik.
Get out into RS while you still can! Evens the playing field too ;-)

100Drag race launches?? You're nuts. Glad you did not buy Nissan GTR
What's it do 1/4 mile?

I like that Porsche is thinking outside the box. This model would put them back on top of GT racing. Piech's thinking i'll bet.

1. Scuderia is affordable ($185k), a GT3 RS is slightly cheaper but then you need to ad $$$ to fix the diff, and the plastic prone-leaking fittings. Sell RS, take a one month break, and you have Scuderia money.

2. Scuderia is massively bigger inside than any other track car I have driven. I can't reach the steering wheel and pedals if I pull the seat all the way back.

3. I doubt I can do 30 days at Sebring, no time, would love to.

I practice at local drag strips for SCCA National ProSolos, I only run 1/8 mile drag strips. Fiat is quicker than my former 2003 Yamaha R6, and I won a regional Yamaha event drag race with that bike in NJ, compared to RS and 996 GT3 is not fair at all.

1. Took me 20 years to save up 135K after coming off the boat with $20.00 in my pocket, 50K difference plus last years depreciation, it will be another 10 years before I can do DE again?! Still, I don't like flappy padels..

2. Lemme test sit for when I win the lottery next time. Stupid long legs, barely fit in RS.

3. See, that and you're smarter is why you make the big $$..

The car is much faster than RS, no comparo!

Rather wait for street version of this:

Ah, heck with waiting. I'll take one of these now...

"Porsche plans Ferrari 458 rival"

I thought they already had a 458 beater, the GT2 RS or even the Turbo S for that matter.

I love the idea. If they kept the Porsche spirit in handling, gave it rwd and kept the weight down. I'd take take a high revving Porsche V8 mid-engine sports/super car over anything on the market right now. Assuming it is cheaper than a nice CGT.

The 458 is an amazing drive,... the R8 (only driven the V8, no experience with the V10) is linear and a bit numb. I'll be interested to see what Porsche comes up with. I don't care for the 458 styling or the R8 personally. Something about the 911 GT3 just captivates me.

he could just rent a car from Hertz and install Traqmate. By the time he's done analuzing he'll be faster :-)

I hope it has a NA Flat 8 mated to a manual transmission!
