Guys... I have had the honor of feeling what the die hard racers go through, time, effort, cost and perperation, only to have an abrupt end to a fun weekend.
Yes that was me who stuffed the RS up the hill at turn five at BMS after a few laps.
I actually knew exactly what was happening and tried hard to correct it but when the car gets on grass and still has momentum there is nothing to say or do except a 4 letter word (many many times...it is on tape).
The only reason that I am posting is to remind everyone that safety equipements are essential. I have had no strain of any muscle in my body as the car bounced of the armco...(Alabama region collected the $250 for track damage of course). Driver side airbags deployed but were of no use because I was restrained with a 6 point and Hans...perhaps they are dead weight.
The car is at the bodyshop and it does not appear that there is any damage to the tub....just fenders and bumpers .....
So here is what I have learned: Always believe what your common sense is telling you,and follow it, I did not this time, keep the TC on when damp, get track insurance, and most importantly have the proper safety equipments...

I am VERY sorry to read this news and trust your car gets fixed soon. Glad you are ok - which ultimately is most important.

Glad you are OK....thanks for the report! Barber is one of my favorite tracks but Turn 5 goes slightly downhill into a left hand turn...the Spider is in front of you. I am confused about this up hill part going into T5?????

Man, I'm sorry to hear about the accident...

I'm glad you're OK and weren't hurt (and also that the car was not in a bad shape )

sorry to hear about the rs. remember, all material things can be replaced/repaired, etc. as long as you're healthy. things just happen and there's no rhyme or reason.

Glad you were not hurt.
So many issues can cause a trip to the armco.
I noticed a puff ahead in the braking zone at Sebring (night race). Turned out the car ahead dropped his oil filter. My fresh out of the paint shop GT3R cup went sideways into the tire wall with a corvette close behind.
Not if but when you crash do not lock your arms on the wheel or legs on the pedals. Let the eq do its job. Spiral fractures suck

I'm so sorry to hear this but glad you are OK. Things like this happen as I was reminded last summer when my wife hit a wall at Calabogie. The important thing is that you are OK.
BTW, do you mean the uphill of T4?

Glad to hear you're okay. We were garage neighbors at VIR last year, and you were nice enough to show me the line in my car and took me for a ride in yours. Clearly an accomplished driver. Sometimes that quick peek over the edge results in more trouble than is easily imagined.
