Default Trailering GT3 RS for the 1st time... TIPS?

I have standard hook type ratchet ties for hauling my RX7 but not sure if these will hook to anything safely under the P car.

So is there a safe place to just hook some ratchet ties to strap her down when hauling or do I have to get some tow straps etc....

THANKS!

Check Rennline for their hook brackets for the front jackpad and rear subframe. They work great if ou are using an open trailer. If you are using an enclosed trailer the fronts are har to get the hooks attached. Just a satified customer.

I go through the wheels with soft straps. One end has a loop sewn into it. Feed the regular end through the wheel and through the loop and into the ratchet.

I prefer rennline hooks on the rear sub frame and front jack points.

Just don't overdo it it. Tight is tight enough.

I do what Chris does; through the wheels, and criss-cross in the back.

Thanks fellas

I'll probably go through the wheels with straps if I have time to fool with it or just leave the truck and trailer and run with bad tires again

Well at least I now have a proper track seat installed

Through the wheels is fine. Just get a bag of cheapo microfiber cloths from CostCo and use them as protection -- and keep the paint on the wheels free of abrasives like brake dust and tire rubber.

Have the weight centered or forward of the trailer. If you can buy or borrow a Sherline scale, you can get the tongue weight dialed in.

Avoid crossing the straps -- this tends to cause the car to move until all four straps equalize. Worse, if one strap fails or slackens, the car is a triangle of forces that can pull one corner into contact with the trailer walls.

As noted, too much tension is not helping. Snug is ample -- these ratchet straps can exert far more force than needed to keep a car in place over bumps, braking and cornering.

I see some references to Rennline (which appears to copy Autometrics and TC Design) so I wonder if anyone knows who first invented these tie-downs and which are copies.

Lots of opinions on this topic as to how to best do it...they are all probably fine. Unless you are planning to go up to Mid Ohio or WGI (long trips for you) you will be fine. I just strap through the rims (unlike the FD) and you know I have a long haul no matter what track I go to..sucks.

Recheck the tension after an hour on the road. Depsends on your rig, but some folks back them in. I use weigt leveling hitch with a 24 ft. Enclosed featherlite and drive it in front first. Never had a problem.

+1 on Tightening them a second time after a half hour or hour.
On my Boxster I used Rennline front hooks (mount to factory jack points) and rear wheel straps. Now that I have an enclosed trailer, I am using wheel straps at all 4 corners.

Tow hooks all around, criss-cross rear and check after .5 - 1 hour (open trailer).
