One caveat that I wish to explain regarding my seat removal DIY:

If you happen to start the car with either of the seats disconnected from the wiring harnesses, you'll most likely end up with an error code in your on-board computer and a warning light displayed on your dash. In my case, I got both the air bag and traction control warning lights on the dash. To clear these, you need to visit a Porsche dealer and have them clear the faults. Most independent shops don't have this capability.

I can clear those easily. There's no charge for that and yes just do it with the battery disconnected until everything is hooked up again

Ha! Show off!

ps. "denatured alcohol" will dissolve those yellow warning stickers and take the glue off the sunvisors

Even a non-mechanic like me can do a DIY!!!!! :P

BTW - Thanx for the tip on the "beautiful" yellow warning stickers!!!!

And the wifey likes the seats, she just hates getting in and out of them!!!!

Loved watching her getting in and out of them for the first time when we went out for dinner tonite!

Brilliant! So happy to help. More to come, soon. Afterall, you _need_ a rollbar in that car!

Reviving old thread with a question...

I am installing BK 9032 sub/FE mount on driver side. This is only for FE mount, not harness mount. Do I need to remove the seat completely as detailed in this thread....or does anyone know a way to finagle the mount into position without actually removing the seat. Probably seat need to come out.

Battery disconnection was not necessary. I did the swap without removing the battery cable and got no lights upon startup.

When dealing with any airbag(s), like the thorax bladder built into the GT3 seat, disconnecting the battery is really good idea.

Gents

Removed my 7.1 comfort seats from my GT3 and replaced with after market Recaro XL seats same as Ranger has in his Orange RS.
Now have air bag light on dash how do I get rid as I how have nothing to plug into the yellow plug?

Jon.

Can we get this stickied in the DIY section? Pretty helpful, mostly the part about how to get to the two front bolts. I took my seat out today to install a new amp and to clean the carpets. Well worth the time. Took all of 10 mins to get the seat out and another 20 of steam cleaning the carpets and cleaning the area where the amp goes.
