ABSOLUTELY!

At first glance, the list was exciting and I thought "good, they did come through with the 18s". Then I looked closer and saw that the proper 18" rears were missing.

Hopefully it's as Slow said and they are working with Porsche to develop the N-rated tires. Fingers crossed cause I would like to start off the 6 3 with these.

Ughhhh I was hoping they were a R compound tire to compete with Toyo R888.....in 18"

They are working with Porsche to homologate N spec tyres; however you can expect those to appear on current/new models (991?) and are lower priority for a "back port" to earlier cars...

What you know L.?
I know nothing ... but honestly I cannot imagine that Porsche/Michelin will prioritize N spec versions for the 996, more than likely to see them on the 991, 997, panamera, cayman, boxster etc etc 1st ...

And what's with the dub-dub sizes? Is this mostly a sedan tyre for the Panamera?

OK, so I now have another set of 19" wheels. I am using Michelin Cup tires for the track and have maybe 2 events left in them. What to do? For strictly track days should I stick with another set of the Cups, or wait for the new Super Sport. A friend has 5 track days on his Corsas and 5K miles total and they still look good. He's a PCA instructor and much faster than me so he's obviously getting pretty good wear. Says they are a good tire.
Herss the 64K question........Whats the best 19" track tire for a White, solo level driver? This is driving me crazy.......

Pretty sure 325 cross sections are coming but just not released before an N-spec's slapped on. Porsche is pretty much the only one using these sizes in 19 and these tires will probably end up on the OEM tire list for widebody cars.

- How much street driving between events?
- You can't go wrong with the Cups but $$
- Only shortcoming is propensity to wake board in H2O
- Pirellis are also tops
- Got a preferred tire shop in your neighborhood? Go with them.

I'm thinking Cups for dry, MPSS for street/wet

For 19's a great track day tire and 1 you can drive to and from he track on is the Toyo R888. It is much better as a track tires than the 19" Michelin Sport Cups as those are not real r-compound tires anyway.

I don't think Michelin suggests the Sport Cup is a R-comp.

Has the (much maligned) R888 reverted to the RA1 compound? (That's the rumor from 2010, IIRC.)

There's no fitment for 19's on a 911 (unless you're happy with 305's on the rear, which I've tried, just to wear out an old set and it's more like ice rally and road racing.)

I don't know if R888 changed anything with the rubber compound. Obviously I don't have a GT3 but the 305's on the rear of my car are fine. I've been using 245/40 and 305/35's. Next I'm going to try out 255/35 and 315/30's a little wider but a shorter diameter to maybe help gear the car down some. We'll see.

Could the Super Sport be a good alternative to the R888 for the guy who drives to the track? I know it's not a R compound but its getting some really impressive reviews related to the technology in the tire.
