Opinions on Changing Exhaust
Decided to change the exhaust system. Want a race system and seems either Sharkwerks or Akrapovic are favoured here. Would be interested to hear views. Reason I want it - first off lighten the load, second want more noise, third - can't get enough of that noise

As an east coaster, I favor my AWE system. It is around 22 lbs lighter IIRC, dynos at plus 11hp, and sounds better than any other GT3 around here. The only negative is that it is a little noisy on the street and drones at 2700 rpm while cruising but these do not sound like issues for you. Speak with Todd Sager, the owner of AWE, and he will give you honest answers. Tell him I said so.

all one ever needs is a sharkwerks bi-pass. Sounds great and can pass most any race track DB requirement.
if you really want loud and dont care about track DB requirements, then sharkwerks track cat back pipes.
It is essentially as loud as the porsche supercup pipes.
europipe also make a superpipe style set of cat back pipes.
These systems are light weight, easy to install, affordable and work with stock cats.
there are other companies that make these systems, however sharkwerks has been impressive for price, support, quality and optional larger tips which is what you want on these upgrades.
You can get full exhaust systems and even headers from various manufactures, although lighter weight, the gains are not that much more impressive and the depreciation on these exhausts let alone the purchase price is retarded unless you can afford it.
keep it simple. lighten the load and free up the flow. center muffler bi-pass.
most people sell their gt3s at losses, and with full header back systems they only end up taking that much more of a loss when d-day comes.

GT3 deserves the Akrapovic in my opinion...
more than 25 kilos will be lost in the rear.. Thats more than 55 pounds..
you cant beleive how it tranformed my brothers GT3
Better turn in..
Better grip..
More stable at the track..
And oh , the sound is soo addictive .. makes proper engine noises..
The only drawback is its price..
If you were in Yas marina circuit today he was there with the Red Gt3

The sound limit at Laguna was 92 dB the three events I ran with Trackmasters Racing, with the stock exhaust on my .2 GT3 I was black flagged at 96 dB. It passes if you bypass the sport mode and keep all three mufflers in the circuit. It is an easy fix, search for mikymu's vacuum cap solution.

[QUOTE=1Gunner;8194079Dealing with AWE is like ...... after a while your head just hurts![/QUOTE]
Buying an exhaust from them probably not an issue. Would not let them touch my car though.

I've got the Sharkwerks track exhaust and man that thing is loud. I had the bypass before I went with the track exhaust, and it was nice because it wasn't loud all the time. You had to take the bypass past a certain RPM and then it would open up. The track exhaust drones quite a bit, and since its so loud you'll have a lot more vibrations in the car. Sometimes I wish I had kept the bypass on, but then I rip through a gear and I change my mind
