Just bought my lighty used (470 miles) 2010 GT3 on Sunday as a track toy and sometime date night driver (although having the wife wear a mini skirt and still gracefully exit those sport buckets may be a challenge - but I am willing to rise to that one).

I have a ton of questions and will probably bug the heck out of most of you.

Anyone going to the Braman Porsche PBIR track day in Feb?

I have still not stopped grinning. What a car. I deciding what to buy and was down to a Viper ACR or a GT3.... until I drove the GT3. Who cares if the Viper is faster and cheaper? Not me, not one bit. Not with that engine noise and the way the GT3 drives and stops.

The break-in period of 2000 miles seems a little excessive (and restraint has never been on of my strong qualities), did you all follow those rules? Come on, be honest.

2010 GT3, white, PCCB, active engine mounts, sport buckets (who cares what else because nothing else makes it any faster).

Still grinning.

Carl.

I've got 650 miles on mine. Have kept it under 4500 rpm mostly...it's very painful but I drive it hard in that range. I "accidentally" got it up to 5500 rpm today, but was doing 120 mph or so. Love the way the car sounds, feels, handles, stops, and goes.

Nice car choice!

Wow! Gorgeous car. Congrats.

I _almost_ bought a white one myself. Very happy to hear you plan to track it. I see you've already got the proper seats! Now, get it a good clear wrap. Half the car (or whole if you can afford it!) to keep all the shiny bits free of chips and dents and dings. And, of course, you'll want a roll bar. And 6 point harnesses to strap you in good 'n tight! And on, and on, and on with go fast bits...

Enjoy! Keep the shiny side up!!!

24chromium you read my mind! Clear bra of the whole front end is in process and the first series of questions was going to be around harness bar/roll cage and harnesses themselves. Any leads or advice?

Thanks, you guys rock.

Me and Trak Car has a OEM clubsport bar put in.....at C2 design in Tampa. If you go this route be careful sho installs it......they squeak if not done right

If welding plate sin the tub is not your thing; DAS, GMG, RSS

Congrats on the car! The best color. We all know white ones are the fastest.

You have the right options, now get some extra wheels and hit the track ;-) How much track experience do you have, if any? BTW your break in period is over. I kept it out of the rev limiter for the first 1000 miles, but hit the track with 500 miles and shortshifted a bit, after 1000 miles redlined it. (See video by clicking on my signature below)

Nothing wrong with Izzone's suggestions but there is also a PCA event at PBIR (www.goldcoastregion.com this weekend and we all are at Winterfest at sebring next weekend (www.pbocflorida.com).

Being in Wellington you have to go check out Orbit, they are local to you on Blue Heron and the beeline across from the park. C2 design in Tampa build my car (I bought it in Tampa) and Orbit has done all setup and service since then.

Safety first! Get yourself a really good helmet. Don't forget, all the HPDE events require a recent (<5yrs) SNELL rated auto (not motorcycle) helmet. Be sure to get a very snug fit, so go try them on in person. Get a HANS or something similar. The Schroth harness is the snitz on these cars. They make one that fits the car/seats perfectly with all the hardware pre-configured. Get the non OE version, as it has a better buckle design. And, they make a HANS specific version, so keep that in mind. If you do get the 6 point harness, you need a harness sub-bar for under the seat in order to mount the sub straps of the harness. As for a roll bar, I went with a full custom that is welded to the floor and bolted to the rear strut towers. It's perfect! The seats go all the way back w/o hitting it and it's rock solid and is 100% functional for all my needs (harness mounting, camera mounting, etc.).

And driving gloves, and race shoes/boots, and... Ah, man... it's ENDLESS!
