With the Volt over $40K the GT2RS is great value. At least that is what I tell my wife

for some reason the 997 GT2RS just dosnt have same appeal to me that the 993 GT2 had when it was released. Thus the lack of lusting for it. (that and the sticker price is out of my league )

So how many here are getting one?
If only one "Savyboy" then I reckon the rest will not see daylight often

Interesting. Exactly opposite here - 2 RS is first turbo that's ever piqued my interest. But I'm holding out for 3 RS LE (even though 2 RS will make a better street car).

I wonder if the "GT2RS is the last production car with the GT1 block" if the RS LE will be another "Exclusive" division special ala the GTS and Speedster which would imply limited numbers?

Wasn't implying that it would not be a GT1 block but that it would be an exclusive dept special rathervthan a production car.

my gt2 rs is apparently at the port and should arrive in toronto within two weeks. however, i think im gonna skip on it, at $306 cdn! i traded in my 2010 rs and bought a 2011 turbo s (had an 09 gt2) and the plan was to buy a cup car to track. things have changed somewhat and it looks like i'll probably keep the turbo s and do some suspension stuff to it and be done with it. to me, 300k cdn seems like poor value when i buy a carrera gt for not much more.... by the way, the turbo s is bloody fast!

Can't fault your logic there... 300 large is serious car money by any measure. As much as I love 911s there too many alternatives at these levels, not the least would be the 16M and CGT...

Then again, if I have to think about it, I can't afford it.

Evo said it best.....
GT2 is super fast but not as gratifying to drive as the GT3 RS. This was the basic reason I sold my 2008 GT2 within 48 hours of taking delivery..

Regarding resale, I believe history is not on the new GT2 RS's side... Yes it is a bit more limited but it too will drop like the past 996 and 997 GT2 models. There will be a window of opportunity (approximately 48 hours!!) for the early deliveries to get out alive. With my 997 I was fortunate and actually made some $$... my brother on the other hand kept his and is in the process of losing 70K 1.5 years later on a car with low miles... If you buy it keep it and drive the scheisse out of it!! No matter how inexperienced you are there won't be too many guys beating your lap times if you've got some BIG OO's, pedal thru the corners pretty well, romp on the gas in the straights and keep the electronic aids engaged!!!

Hi Niteal,

For that kind of money and at the level of driving you're at, you really should get into a track only Porsche. Either a Cup or a Cup S would suit your driving. I think it's the price point, but I just don't lust after the GT2 RS and for $300k, there should be a lot of lusting going around.

agreed bro, a cup car is where i'm heading, still wanna track the turbo s 7-8 times a year! to this day, the gt3 rs (mkii) i had was THE most gratifying street car experience i've had. i've driven the 458 f-car twice now and i've felt nothing towards it. power and tech is great but i always figured the steering feel would be akin to a gt3, not even close. got bored of ther r8 so i guess i'm left with the new mclaren to add to the turbo s......
