Default GT3 Control Arms

Now that I have 2005 Carrera S (after I trashed my 964 at the Glen) I am starting down the slipperly slope. I have seats, roll bar, 18" wheels and semi-solid engine mounts taken care of and I am now focusing on suspension. I have read a lot about GT3 lower control arms which allow for more camber adjustment and think I have the scoop. I have read a bunch of posts and I am looking at the following so please let me know your thoughts and if I have it wrong or missed something.

A. 996 GT3 LCA's (are much less expensive than 997 versions) and have rubber bushings.
B. 997 GT3 LCA's are of a "higher" quality but basically no different than the 996's (other than price) and have rubber bushings.
C. 996 GT3 Cup LCA's are slightly longer, allow for greater camber adjustment, have rubber bushings and you need to change to 996 trailing arms to allow for a better/easier caster adjustment.
D. Tarett LCA's are equiv. to the 996 GT3 LCA's but come with a kit that makes it easier to make caster adjustments by providing a spacer kit (therefore no need for new trailing arms) and have rubber bushings.
E. RSS LCA's seem to be very high quality, look sexy but generally are equiv. to the 996 GT3 LCA's but come with solid bushings. I considered these but feel I will opt for the rubber bushings as I am trying to build a DE/Street car and feel the soild bushings may be too "hard".

All the above need a Litronics kit for proper headlight leveling.

In the end, I am likely to buy the Taretts as the price is good, includes the spacer kit so I do not need to change the trailing arms and also include the litronics arm/shim.

What do you guys think? Thanks,
Tom

I have Tarett solid ends and bushing on my Porsche GT3 Cup LCA and street drive and the car drives great on the street...zero issues...get the solid parts for the Porsche arms or go with RSS arms.

For the solid thrust bushing get the RSS 997 one...not GT3 this way you don't have to add a bunch of silly washers. The 997 is thicker because the 997 thrust arm Y is wider than the GT3 Y arm,

The answer is C. Least expensuve by FAR. Also best solution. Still best if u even want monoball (from ERP not the copycats) also. You want to get the rubber hockey puck out and install aluminum... Most shops will have no clue what to do with multi hole pucks though

RSS LCA comes with Litronic bracket, give a shout if someone wants personalized help.
I don't splat info on a web site; each case is different. I can help.

just to clarify, Porsche has a full set of spacers between 1mm-10mm as I recall available for use with the split LCAs... also tarret monoballs "ends" can be combined with existing GT3 "split" LCAs to remove the rubber from the main joint ...

+1 that's exactly what I did....got my Porsche GT3 Cup LCA's from ViperBob ran with rubber for a year then when I got the GTS got the Tarett monoball ends and RSS solid thrust washer that is thicker for the Carrera wider Y on the end of the arm. Works perfectly.

Mike-- how big of a difference was the addition of the monoballs? Worth the (not-insignificant) $$$?

The steering feels a little more exact with feedback. Can't really tell any difference on the street which is great. Plus it will wear better than rubber and keep the alignment more exact.

This is on an '09 C2S with Sport PASM: 997 GT3 lower control arms and thrust arms, and Tarett rear toe links. Still have the stock rubber LCA ends and thrust arm bushings.

Curious, what tires and wheels are you running for the track?
