Great find RAD. Thanks!!
As some have said, I think JC gets most of the essence of each car right, as he exaggerates the virtues and drawbacks of each. Also, he is a better driver than what most think and what he claims to be. Definitively a lot of car control required for those massive slides.
I tend to agree directionally with most of his opinions (judging cars under the lens of being street cars, not track only cars). Also agree, that modern Ferraris are one notch above anything else, including our awesome, beloved and realiable GTx P-Cars.

According to the UK sales you are probably right, some of the cars they recommend are on the bottom of the sale list and some they hate are on top.
I honestly don’t believe that anyone serious bases his decision to buy a car on a TV show.
But what they do influence is the perception of curtain cars and their owners, and as most stereotypes some of them have no real connection to the truth.
I do love the show his sense of humor and his political incorrectness but I would never take his advice on a car.. For gods shake his drive a convertible Merc..enough said. : )

Like when they put the ****-o-meter for the AMG C63-RS4-M3 comparison. The M3 sent the ****-o-meter off the scale! Very funny and I have an M3, so I should know.
The stereotypes would only offend douchebags who take themselves too seriously.

Don't forget that JC also gained his reputation and the viewing figures for being controversial and outspoken. He therefore tends to exaggerate all his comments, either good or bad, or use humerous stereotypes that we all relate to.
Top Gear is an entertainment program, not a factual review show. It used to be a very factual review show in the original series that ran from 1977-2001, this was 24 years of fairly boring unbiased reviews.

I remember Tiff Needel behind the scenes video where he was getting really frustrated trying to do a 360 in an M Coupe. Took him a while and he is a pro.
It's television, for crying out loud.
It's not like people are going to question Steve McQueen's driving for doing many takes shooting the chase in Bullit. And then bitch that the whole thing was not done in one continuous take.
That's how entertaining TV/film is made. A giant pile of takes with the best ones cut together into something that looks nice.
This is why Top Gear is great. They have the budget to shoot and edit the show very very well. At least, to my eyes it looks done well. I am not in the industry so I could be wrong about it.
