The question is which one is a better daily driver.

How long are you at wide open throttle on the street ?

The longer the drive the better the GT3 vs the RS. DD means listening to music, and parking lots....

I stilll think DD GT3 FTW. (however I don't really DD my GT3)

Never, you should see my tires...

Sorry, but why?? I think they are equal as DD.

There is no sound difference between RS and non RS??
Is there?

With sport button off, when I am on the phone with bluetooth when I stay below 4K RPM, they can't even tell I'm driving on the other side of the line..

How's parking different, 1" on each side more?

Yes, the RS looks cartoonisch with the decal (Removable) and rear wing, but the GT3 is not exactly blending in either...

Parking and slow speed stuff----- lightweight flywheel, as it is the standard GT3 one is pretty light. Car likes puttering around at 5mph even less....a la parking lot.

And if the RS has slightly different headers, intake and exhaust , and possible less sound absorbitiion material----then it would make sense it's louder. Also wing supposedly obscures rear view more than the plain GT3.

I have cup holders in my GT3....does the RS ?

Also I have the regular seats in my car.....a lot of RS's get the sport buckets.

Regular GT3 comes with a German **** magazine in the glove box......GT3 FTW !

==> True, with RS you like like an idiot for stalling car, or you look like idiot for revving car all the time. With GT3 only half the time..

==>It could be louder, but I find it to quiet and no problem to use Bluetooth even when unplugged with sharky, so no pob.

==> No cost option.

Also I have the regular seats in my car.....a lot of RS's get the sport buckets.
==> The sport buckets are super comfy, I can sit in there all day, no prob. Plenty people would trade out no $$.

==> Besides Rennlist, the www is for that no?

If I could only have one sports car, and it was going to be daily driven, and I was going to the track once in a while...

PDK 997S.

Better let this thread die now, there is serious risk someone from Porsche marketing research team reads it and tries to "daily drive" the next one even more.

Apart from the tires this car is as daily driver as any manual Porsche 911 ever was.. considering the oxymoron..

Thanks again for all the feedback.

FWIW, re visibility, I don't think the wing is a problem on either car. I've driven the GT3, and sat in the RS, and the rear views seam adequate to me.

doesn't the RS have different gearing... so won't it REV much higher hence use more gas... if anybody cares that is... i think final drive is 3.9 on the RS... that's pretty high... and different gear ratios to go along with it...

tongue in cheek of course.
both cars are not good DD's.
but if you must pick one , i think it's a toss up.
my view of it... this is like robbing a bank or robbing a liquor store. either way, you end up in jail. pick your medicine.

the RS is not louder, not rougher and a lot of ppl worry about hitting the lip spoiler. that means they really haven't driven it quick (not fast) but quick on street. you will hit the brake duct. that will rip off way before the lip. i hit a lot of things with my GTx. i even drove over curbs buying donuts at 4am on way to track. i konw what gets ripped off ;-)

if elmel is really looking for a DD, get a 997pdk or pepper.
if you are picking b/n gt3 or rs, either is way.

yes, gearing is lower on RS. but really it's fine. just drive it. (to the OP).
either car you be stuck in 3rd gear in greater SF area anyways, i dont think i have ever used 6th gear, ever.
5th gear is sub 5k rpm.

One more thing -- how bad are the Cup tires in the rain? If I behave myself, and keep it under 80mph, will I be ok, or am I gonna kill myself?

The PS2 cup tires are terrifying in the rain. Pirelli corsas are a bit better. Mooty's right, though. Put normal tires on and get track wheels.

How does one get PS2s on a GT3RS? There's no matching set (that I can find). You can get runflats for the front, but do you really want to mix them like that? Am I missing something?

Pepper Turbo for the rainy days? I wish!
