MJ do you have a link for the testing of a GT2RS mule with GT1 engine and PDK?

Like I said I'm not sure it was the Mezger engine but it was a GT2RS with PDK that had tested i believe 30,000Km's on the 'Ring.

As for a link, no unfortunately there's no link, I along with CJ took a trip to Europe and saw it with our own eyes.

That said, keep in mind the automotive world moves at a blistering pace and so what we saw/heard 2-years ago may be obsolete and useless now. Not to mention the changes that have taken place since V-Dub's take over/purchase of Porsche.

Ok thanks just asking because this was the first time I heard of such a test, so maybe it was a test mule 9A1 engined and pdk the one you saw as it is said that it crossed their mind to use the newer engine for GT2RS at some point but power was stopping at 550-560 HP maybe they indeed coupled the old block with PDK maybe not who knows..

Adam Towler reported on Piston heads last summer regarding the development of the GT2RS. http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=105&i=22253

"The GT2 RS started out as an unofficial 'hobby' project within Motorsport to create a GT2 'Lightweight'. The idea germinated at the final test session of the gen1 997 GT2 at Estoril back in December 2006. Both Preuninger and Karsten Schebsdat (development of performance manager at GTX) felt the gen1 GT2 had more still to offer and set about proving it. They created a test mule and, with brutal weight saving measures, shaved 100kg off the kerb weight, while the engine guys found another 30hp, taking the total to 560hp. A new car was born, which very quickly received the RS label from anyone who sampled it.

When Rohrl recorded a 7m32 at the 'Ring in the GT2 during the spring of 2007, there was another car tucked away in the garage which the engineers suggested he might like to try for himself. Typically, Rohrl jumped at the chance and clocked 7m29 on his first lap in 'Lighty': all the ammo Preuninger needed to approach the board with his proposal."

Well my fingers are crossed for a GT Porsche with PDK. I know a lot of you are purist and enjoy rowing the gears...I can't....so this is my dream. Porsceh did great with PDK in the Carrera S and I really enjoy my car...but for the way I like to use my car a GT3 with PDK would be perfect for me!

911Slow..your new avitar is just killing me! ;-)

ferrari have more of the "to hell what people think, we'll do what we want"attitude. it is very italian. germans worry too much about how they are peceived by everybody. they are less likely to take risks, but product is highly developed over time. in other words, italians don't give a f#*@, and this results in a lot of crap things, and alot of truly beautiful things. ( like strads and scuds, and superamericas)
porsche needs to source some board members from the love parade.

i am all for PDK. they just need to make it robust and couple to good motor. PDK is the way to go, no clutch, faster shifts. i am trigger happy. PDK is safer than glocks.

I'm all for PDK being an option. To each his own or as in MRDrums' physical challenges shouldn't be a limiting factor or prevent him from enjoying, what is in my opinion, the Porsche has to offer.

I'm loving the GT3 and its 6mt, but I'd have no problem with a PDK version either.
