Talking Veterans day @ Thunderhill

I had a blast with our five fellow forum members and their GT3/RS celebrating veterans day chasing each other at Thunderhill. It was a treat to have Johannes van Overbeek and company on the track with their spec 911 - one fast company!

My RS bare an US air force logo to honor my favorite maverick flying tiger outfit. Here is a shout out to all veterans

Here is a video of our GT3/RS train and chasing Johannes van Overbeek along with couple pictures from the event.

Another video chasing Z06. I was dead tired ... last session of the day and alot of mistake

Lotus club is really relax - almost anything goes. They let you run both intermediate and advance group for one low price of $150. You can easily get 10 sessions in one track day ... FATIGUE!

This Lotus club trackday was fantastic, trully relaxed enviroment with tons of track time. Nice to see so many GT3's, you flew by me all day long...
Here's one of my laps in my slow 997 c2s with the slower driver (me)

Good line and I will remeber to track out more. I think Johannes and his friend trade off driving the spec 911 - one sweet car!

Yes, good format and tons of track time - most importantly CHEAP!

Did you go off at T1?

use it all, and some dirt too. that's why potter is fast, he put all four into dirt. his track is much wider than us.

you need spec 911. that's what real man drives.

yep, that's me

I messed up braking while trying to downshift 5-4-3. T1 was challenging for me, heavy braking, uneven pavement? 2 downshifts vs 1 (5->3)...
The off was not to bad, when I realized I was too hot didn't want to panic/block brakes nor get sideways so I chose to keep it simple.
I'm learning...

do not shift to 5th gear. your car's gearing is way too tall, you shouldn't use more than 4th gear in any of the nor cal tracks.

i did for the most part, like in the video I posted, but found that I'm at redline just before the flag stand so either I shift up or coast till braking point, and that's with a lot of room for improvement at T14-15...

Sorry not my intention to hijack this thread, thank you for your input.
Only drawback of this event was the coaching part since I didn't know anybody, with PCA that is better covered for us the newbies
