Coolant temp warning
This happened on three GT3 RS II vehicles now that it is cold enough..as a result Porsche put out a tech bulletin...not a recall
As you drive on the street in cool weather the coolant temp does not rise fast enough due to a faulty shut off valve that carries the coolant to cool the gear box (do not know part#) so any one who knows can pitch in...you get a serivce warning with or w/o the coolant temp guage failing...if it happens you must replace that valve.....I wonder how many older GT3/RS are running with a defective valve, as the computer on the 1st gen does not track the rate of rise on the temp....

If that is the same valve, which also has the temperture sensor for the guage built into it, and is mounted on driver side by transmission, then YES!
Mine did develop a small leak, caused the temp gauge to not work and WAS replaced 8 weeks ago under warranty.

Good post-- thanks for sharing.
This happened to me-- didn't realize it happened to others.
i previously searched and couldn't find anything on the subject.
So, perhaps reasonable to conclude that this is only on .2 models but doesn't make sense given the suspect part (better to assume people aren't reporting here (like i did not)).
My CEL light came on and my coolant temp guage went flat. Even after reset where coolant guage was working, my oil temp guage wouldn't rise to normal levels. Incidentally, this happened twice and both errors occurred on cold, damp or rainy mornings. FYI-- i am told the valve has a 928 part number.
My dealer fixed it and no problem since.
