Check the website for AWE - I know how careful they are about their HP claims and there is something to be had although it's only maybe 15 HP, together with weight loss and better sound. These have the Euro cats (200 cell, I think.)

This is a dyno of a 997.1 GT3 with Sharkwerks track exhaust w/ stock 400 cel cats, Evoms software tuned for E85 gas (394whp/295wtq SAE on a dynojet):
This is my 997.2 GT3 with Akrapovic race exhaust, BMC filter, Evoms software tuned for E85 gas (423whp/311wtq SAE on the same dynojet):
Thats about as much as can be done without doing a 3.9/4.0 conversion...

for track use:
1. Loose as much weight as you can bare to
2. Catless with longer custom headers (bbi or GMG WC) (this will be loud.. like 105-110 db)
3. if its a mk 1, get full solid suspension pieces (RSS/GMG)
4. Spend the rest of your money on track time to learn to drive it as best you possible can
But unless you are serious about the track and plan on doing 8+ days a year, I would just enjoy it stock

for giggles, we took out the cat and put two small muffler on. 110db. i failed sound.
but regardless of what exhaust i had on. i ALWAYS run stock ECU and 91 oct.
something i just have to do it my way. i will not flash ECU, never drive turbo sports cars (dont like the word "turbo" sounds), never do more than 91 oct. strange i know. (i never sleep with mirror facing me, never buy house with 4 in my address, if DMV assigns me a plate with 4 in it, i will sell the car regardless of how much money i lose.... so forth)
anyways, back to cars.
if i ran stock ecu and cheap fuel, is it better to have the cat or not?
i removed it to save wt.
torque loss is not too big a deal as the car is only driven on track and rarely falls below 5000 rpm.
thanx for ur help.
