OK, we've been thinking and looking and thinking and looking for a GT3. Not a new one....maybe an 08. It seems like there are a BUNCH out there with ONLY 2 - 3 thousand miles on the clock.
So why so many? Not just a couple. People buy them and it's too much of a car? Maybe financial reasons? Trade up to RS? All of the above?

why so low miles? ppl "treasure" them, fear to drive them.
why so many? financial yes, too stiff ride, yes, move to the next greatest, yes, some of us have serious commitment issues.
i had 2008 GT3, great machine. at current prices, they are a lot of car for the money.
will look great next to your classic porsches.

Yeah we can relate to the commitment issues! And we tend to treasure all our cars. But we also DRIVE them.
So I guess .....All of the above sorta sums it up!
Looking at an Orange 08 2300 miles CPO with lots of options.
Well see.

For me I am trading up to a 11' GT3RS. My 10' 3RS was a "filler"car till I could get my hands on an RS

My '07 3 had 55xx miles on it, of which roughly half were done in the 1st 10 days of euro delivery, I just treasured the car and only took it out when the drive warranted a GT3, i.e track or fun ... no point in commuting to work in a 3 when you have a commute car ...

I sold mine to upgrade to a 2010 ... despite the crushing depreciation ...

The reason there are SO many for sale is Porsche WAY over estimated how gullible we GT3'ers are.
WIth the 07,08 they had us groveling all over the country to pay, 20k, 50k even a hundred K over for
RSs and even Plain GT3's.

Now with that fresh on everyones mind the market has correctly adjusted. And with forums like this
everyone is armed with the correct information. Making Dealer doublecrosses almost impossible.
And that has sifted to all the GT markets.

The GT3's kept getting better with each model year. Then the discounts, then the plentiful RS's

1) No garage space to fit all the cars
2) It would have significantly exceeded my driving capabilities on the track
3) No real use for it as a track car for me with the RSA now set up for track
4) Too uncomfortable and not practical as my sole daily driver, especially in the winter
5) No rear seats to fit the kids
6) My wife refused to drive it because she didn't want to "break it"
7) Not comfortable using it as a daily driver in the NY area for safety reasons (too flashy)
8) It was perfect in all ways and I wanted to sell it before it got its first ding or scratch

I sold my '07 back to the Local P-car dealer here in Honolulu back in May, even though I bought it in OR from a private saler. I felt I got good money $85k for her and put over 12k miles in less then 3 years. Which is better then a lease. They sat on the car for over three months and ended up sending her back to CA to dealer there and still have not sold her.
I hated to do it to her but I just saw the market slipping & slipping.

Now I'm looking for an rs, but thinking I'll wait a few years to buy an low mile '10 or '11.

K-Dog- you did the right thing. Bottom feeders like me wait for prices to drop significantly. Sold my 07 Cayman CS for $39k then for $4k more was able to buy a 2005 GT3 w/83k miles w/ a powertrain warranty. That's just a bit over half of your 07 GT3 sale price and where you'd have been holding the car for another 2-3 years and driving it another 20k. Porsche has a serious problem with depreciation making the huge numbers since water-cooling. For that reason, I am hanging on to my 73 P-toy.
