GT3 RS into the wall at High Plains Raceway in CO
Spent some time at High Plains this morning. A Black w/orange GT3 RS passed a friend, didn't brake soon enough at the end of the straight, spun and stuffed it into the wall.
Fortunately the driver was fine. Looks like it needs a new rear bumper, 3/4 panel and some suspension and wheel work.
Have fun and be safe our there, all.

I've learned that when you pass someone, you typically have to take the next corner more slowly. On a short straight way, it's often hard to get back in position to take the next corner your normal way, and if you go in off line at the same speed, you can easily spin (fortunately, I just spun and never left the track, so my lesson was not costly).
When you get a point-by in a short straight, just accept that you will have to take the next corner slow. Yes, you are slowing down the car that gave you the point by, but it's better than putting your car in the wall.

When you make the short straight pass you need to also understand your cars natural habits for offline cornering. some may need as much straight line braking as possible, others could trail brake deep into the corner, still others might be able to scrub speed by playing with the apex in combination with trail braking... Driver skill has a lot to do with the end result.

Burning Brakes
Did this happen at turn 1, that is a tuff corner if you go in too hot, I spun there last May at a BMW HDPE event.
Luckily for me there was no damage to my car(996 GT3). I got sideways with only the rear wheels off pavement, in my case it was solely driver error, going in too hot and turned in just a tad early, ran out of road and spun.
Good to hear the driver is ok,
