Yeah, but isn't that the "slippery slope" that everyone keeps referring to.

I started with an open aluminum trailer (R&R) from a local dealer but eventually bought a (used) enclosed Trailex. I can't stand the idea of driving a heavy duty pickup around and yes..I did look at Mooty's last week and it's quite nice but it's still a truck..can't do it. The enclosed Trailex with the race car + stuff weighs in at about 5500lbs and tows at 120kph easily behind an SUV with 7200lb towing capacity. My advice would be to go to an enclosed right away and bypass the open...you'll be there eventually and I suspect you know that already Might as well get one and get it over with...

very tough.
1. trailex doesnt sell many enclosed: very expensive though worth the money
2. since not many new sold, not many used available and when they do, they are sold quickly and still at very high % of msrp when new.

glen sold one not long ago iirc.

I know you didnt ask for my 2 cents but I am not sure what the attraction to trailex is but the all aluminum featherlite is an awesome trailer, enclosed or open.

I have towed both trailers from east to west and back again with cars or other toys and I have had no problems. The balance is awesome and I can maintain a speed as fast as traffic will allow and again we go straight down the road. I either use a 3/4 ton or 1 ton dually pick up.

Also if you have the money the folks at aluminum trailer company (ATC) in indiana are awesome to deal with and they will build you any trailer you want out of aluminum or steel. They built me a nice stacker.

Anyway feel free to contact me with any questions and good luck.

btw, no affiliation with anyone i just want you to get a good trailer to keep your car safe.

if open, i dont think ATC does open???
if enclosed, trailex is the lightest bar none. it does'nt work for everyone as it's very low (thus light), that's the only reason i didn't get it and got my TPD wich a 6' person can stand straight up.
featherlight is as good as trailex. but for same length enclosed trailer, it's heavier by quite a bit. you can safely tow trailex with 1/2 ton truck or X5 or pepper type of vehicle. you wont be able to tow fatherlight well with those cars.

you towed with 3/4 - 1 ton truck. heck you can tow a house with those things. i towed 20' tpd, trailex enclosed and featherlight with a pepper GTS. i felt good with trailex (which i didn't buy), with tpd and featherlight, i have no acceleration on flat land. imagine pulling over grape vine or up laguna seca's entry (which is tough even for 1 ton trucks).

I know they cost top dollar. Simmilar in cost to the Trailex enclosed units with options.

I think one would look cool with a vinyl wrap. Looks like a tight if for a RS but should be ok.

when you say trailer.
do you want one to just move the car
or do you want one to move the car, stuff, extra fuel, 2 more sets of wheels, 3x driving suits, 3x cool suits, 2x helmet, BBQ grill, pit bike, some tools, generator....

i dont really know how to work on my car other than oil change, brake pads, and brake fluid. so i dont have much tool, but i carry 2 extra sets of wheels, 25 gal of fuel and other stuff mentioned abouve. a 24' fills up VERY FAST.

aero vault and trailex enclosed will be tight if you want to carry much anything else.
