if open, i dont think ATC does open???
if enclosed, trailex is the lightest bar none. it does'nt work for everyone as it's very low (thus light), that's the only reason i didn't get it and got my TPD wich a 6' person can stand straight up.
featherlight is as good as trailex. but for same length enclosed trailer, it's heavier by quite a bit. you can safely tow trailex with 1/2 ton truck or X5 or pepper type of vehicle. you wont be able to tow fatherlight well with those cars.
you towed with 3/4 - 1 ton truck. heck you can tow a house with those things. i towed 20' tpd, trailex enclosed and featherlight with a pepper GTS. i felt good with trailex (which i didn't buy), with tpd and featherlight, i have no acceleration on flat land. imagine pulling over grape vine or up laguna seca's entry (which is tough even for 1 ton trucks).

Remember I am from Bakersfield, everyone here has a 3/4 ton truck or dually, you get the truck free when you buy a horse...... ha ha ha
Have a good one

Brain fart!
In my humble opinion, if you're going to be doing any distance, get an enclosed trailer. If you ever stay overnight anywhere, you'll be glad nobody knows what you're hauling.

I had a Wells Cargo enclosed trailer custom built when I was showing the 55 356. I had them add the drivers side escape door, so when you drive the car into the trailer, you just open the door and step out easily. When I sold the 356, I sold the trailer. Bought a Featherlite open trailer.......I MISS my enclosed Wells Cargo!
