Tom, have the best of fun at the Targa!!! Good luck.

Choose tires wisely, if rain is a condition, run the even on Hoosier Rain tires (street tires), they have so much grip in the rain that you can still lift your inside front wheel on aggressive turns.

What are the rules for tires? one set for the entire event? multiple sets? slicks allowed? multiple sets of the same tires?

Be careful with the weather - it's unpredictable these days.

Yesterday I encountered violent, grape-sized hail 15 minutes into my trip home from a sunny day at the beach in Tahoe. I'm so glad my girl didn't want to take the GT3...

Tom,

After following you on track for 20+ minutes last time, I'm sure that you have more than enough skill to bring back a trophy. All the best!

Dear Tom - you have been an inspiration! I started intensely reading Rennlist about a year ago, and followed your threads with great interest. Since then, I was fortunate to get a new GT3, which I am enjoying now. Your attitude and approach to enjoying these cars have greatly influenced the way I look at them myself now.
Good luck, stay off the kerbs and bring back a trophy! Last year it was that Millen GTR if I remenber correctly, hope this year you will top the sheets!
Best regards, wurlie

Kudos on the long road trip!. Inspiring to see them used the way they are meant to be used.

And....deeply envious. Having done the Targa once, but only in the TSD category, I can say it is an AMAZING car event. The roads, the people, the cars, and scenery make it one of the best I've been to.

Have fun!

I wish i knew this earlier

the rain was so heavy in places that i could barely do 37mph.
When dry i would stab the throttle to 120mph to make up time before the rain patch would hit again.

lightning shows all day and night were fantastic. 16 degrees in the rain and 37 degrees in the sun. total mix of hot to cold.

Because the last track i was on was mainly left turns, the passenger side rear tire is bald as a slick whereas the driver side rear has a little tread left.
this makes rain interesting and the car has a slight vibration over 100mph.

this year, there is a tread depth rule which pretty much rules out D.O.T race tires hence im burning off my last set of R888's on the road trip.

I am allowed to run 6 street legal tires. (4 + 2 spares)

i have 256/18 PS2's front and 315/18 PS2's rear.

hope this works

Presumably that 265's front. But 315's on the rear will be a bit underwhelming.

Anyway, break a leg!

The proper way to do Targa Noof for sure! 'Tis a dream of mine to drive/race that event some day. My question: how do you find a willing & competent co-driver?

Best of luck!

Let me know when you are passing through greater toronto and I can see if there is a trackday at Mosport which would work for you
