RUf isnt a TUNER, he is a genius. More of a re-manufacturer.
He is not afraid to step outside the Box

Hardly what I'd call "re-manufacturer" -- there are Ruf's which are modified Porsches and have a Porsche VIN, as I'm sure you know, but the genius of the cars is in the Ruf's that are built from "blanks" that are just the body in white delivered with no VIN, just the lump of metal. Ruf is an auto-maker in its own right.

The world of tuning cars for the masses is relatively new but I am sure that each tuner will get what he deserves at the end. Pretty much like automotive companies did.
Even the last 25 years if you see what happened to car tuners and how they boomed and disappeared later shows my thinking is right.
RUF was great, then for some years kind of lost its way but he is back now, with innovating well made products / cars.

If one has to have a RUF than one will pay the premium but many reputable tuners(GMG,Sharkwers,Evoms...etc, etc) out there that will offer similiar(if not more) for less money. I guess in the end resale value(to some) would be better on a RUF vin(coversions aren't cheap either) car than a modified-like vehicle.

Totally agree. What makes someone turn a beautiful Porsche into something else?

I wouldnt say hideous, def over the top. I actually like a couple of the parts...hood and rear bumper. The scissor type doors are so 10 years ago.

The cellophane-wrapped body of Uwe Gemballa has been found in South Africa. Founder of well known German tuning firm Gemballa Automobiletechnik, the company recently relaunched under new ownership.

While details are limited, police believe Uwe's murder was tied to an illegal money laundering scheme with Czech crime boss Radovan Krejcir. According to testimony, Gemballa and Krejcir had been cahooting on nefarious transactions since 2002 but, in September of last year, problems arose. It appears Gemballa wasn't making payments on time and Krejcir told him, "...you're a dead man."

After this phone call, an associate of Krejcir lured Gemballa to South Africa under the guise of setting up a business agreement. Airport surveillance shows Uwe being picked up by a light-skinned man, believed to be a Russian associate of Krejcir, on February 8th. Afterwards, the two traveled to a house and Uwe (or someone claiming to be him) was forced to call his wife and ask for one million dollars. When the money didn't arrive, Uwe was killed.
