any sub bar is more or less "fine".
if you dont want compromise, you need to use eyebolt through chassis and plated. preferably "weld" the plate and eyelet all to chassis, not bolt through. look at cup cars.
the lap belt should also be eyebolted through chassis as well.
YOU, the driver will need to make a decision of how far to take it. it took me a LONG time to come to grip with it.

I happen to have an extra sub bar which fits the GT2 seat. Sale price is $100 plus shipping. This thing looks stout enough to suspend the entire car. It is not the B-K bar and is not set up for a fire extinguisher mount. I believe it is the OEM but I'm not sure. It was installed by Farnbacher-Loles so maybe it was stolen from a church.

Thanks everyone for the heads up on the Sub Bar, I ordered the Brey-Krause R-9032 & R-9034 today. I plan on having them installed when I get the roll bar installed.

any bar can be modded to fit.
the old sub bars just need the holes tapped. see mikymu's post.
so far the ONLY one's make specifically for GT2 seats (the seat in USA GT3RS and optional on GT3) are

In order for them to fit, you would have to drill the sub bar hole(s) larger ...
just buy the B-K bars ...

correct, only the B-K sub bars for the (GT2) Sports Buckets will fit, esp since on the passenger seat the airbag module needs to be relocated (which the B-K kit deals with)
been there, done that, trust me ... order the B-K subs for the GT2 seat ... trying to retrofit the 996 bars is a PITA that is not (IMHO) worth the hassle vs cost ...

I guarantee that my sub bar (see prior post with big picture) fits the driver's side GT2 seat since that is where it was installed when I bought my seats from Polar Peter. I removed it because I wanted a fire extinguisher mount on the driver's seat and harnesses on the passenger seat. But if you want a sub bar only for the driver's side, buy my bar.
