I lucked out on the trailer... I bought it set up that way and it was local...

My advice to anyone looking for an alum open trailer... if you find one that is local and reasonably priced, jump on it.

Was going to say that a tow vehicle would allow you to take a bike to the track so you could slip a ride in between sessions but the post above proves that you can also do that with a roof rack.

BTW, you guys that trailer: Since DEs are generally 2-day affairs, do you leave the car at the track overnight or take it with you, on the trailer, to the hotel or back home?

I've seen similar trailers at all kind of autocross events, but never behind a GT3.... I'd have to see how the hitch mounts up before I'd consider that. Roof rack too? Tell me that's not another bike mounted somehow on the front. That rig obviously gets the job done; but I think it might be a river crossing short of a bridge too far!

Yes you open aluminum guys, they're all great; and I've seen a couple of features I like on several of them. If I just MUST go back to a trailer, an open aluminum one will probably be my choice. I could use a 1/2 ton pickup around the house once and awhile....but again, I like Facel's concept right now.

I always left my trailers at the track. Put the car in the enclosed overnight; used inexpensive trailer screw-type stability jacks at each corner so I could load/unload without being hooked to the tow vehicle.

I left the open ones at the track too, but didn't bother to put the car back on the trailer overnight between event days. The tow vehicle becomes transport back and forth in the interim. I always used various types of tongue locks just to make it harder for the honest guys to steal the trailers. The real bad guys will get it no matter what.

That TPD tongue weight would have been ... what ... 1000 lbs? : )

I imagine it was not great behind the Cayenne. I guess if you put a sway control arm on the tongue it would be okay.

I've attached a pic of my tow rig compared to a 2010 Cayenne Turbo for size. : )

My experience has been longer is better for tow vehicle wheelbase; especiallly towing enclosed trailers.

Love your Cayenne, but anti-sway and an equalizing hitch will only get you so far, Mooty me boy. At least you're not pulling a tri-axle!
