Saw it in Frankfurt IAA
It has a unique look to it it's oddly ugly yet appealing...not sure how to explain it IMO.

They say it looks pretty good from 300 degrees, but the 60 degree view from the rear is "unfinished" at best. I certainly like the car, but the overly phallic proportions are an inevitable heritage. It's one of those cars that the individual might really appreciate, but where would you drive it? The track? Really? Maybe a run along the coast or a favorite back road. I dunno. A trip to the office? Pretentious? A run over to the hardware store or the grocery errand? Hardly preferable. So, in the same category as a Lamborghini like the Murcielago, it's an interesting car and probably rewarding, but where the hell do you drive it?

When you have that kind of expendable cash, you don't need to try to make sense of the purchase

I wouldn't say it's ugly at all. If anything it's quite dramatic in the GT tradition.

The way it drives on the other hand...twitchy and rough. Didn't like that aspect at all. I'd go R8 V10 or Bentley CGT instead. IMHO of course....

Slightly OT but on Fri and Sat, there was a C63 station wagon tailing the SLS during some lapping prior to the F1 testing, just wow! That thing sounded like a monster and seemed to keep up handily.

Now that's a grocery getter!

Oh, and I thought the red SLS on display looked quite good. $198k Cdn, $252k with options including stuff like $6,000 for engine bay carbon fiber.

Yeah maybe a bit phallic but still a bit less "in your face" than some of the Italian offerings.

love the car, but don't trust AMG value.

trying to decide to buy the 3RS or SLS. i'm not a track guy nor i'll take the RS to the track but i find rewarding just with weekend blast driving. the SLS on the other hand just offers more class. and u're not running on the street with a big *** wing...

what can i say... i think it's far from ugly. hack, even Panamera starts to grow on me too...

I saw it Saturday parked in Bal Harbour, Miami...i won't say it's ugly, but not as pretty as i thought it would be based on the pics I had seen. It is very, very big and looks kinda heavy. Impressive nevertheless.

I think it looks cool, except the Acura rear end.

to me all of these cars are superior to the AMG, which I find UNIMAGINATIVE in the highest degree. it's a friggin copy!!

if that's the bracket you're in, the bentley is classier than the merc and so is anything from aston martin. for 130-200k:

gallardo superleggera (used)
f430 (used)
f360 Challenge Stradale
new GT3RS, GT2, Turbo Cab
Aston V12
Bentley Continental
Audi R8 V10
Ferrari 575, 612

or for even less money and a lot of fun

boxster spyder
nissan GT-R
Corvette z06
CLK 63 Black Series
