Default Interesting Thread on 6 Speed - RE 2011 GT3 RS to have 33HP Extra.....

This could be BS.

However for the guys that have 2011 orders, it also could be awesome.

I claim BS.

That would put it about a dozen horse down to the new turbo. 9500 rpm redline? Don't see it happening. Plus it would devalue like crazy all the new RS's that were just delivered in the last few months. Dertub would probably commit harry-karry. I think that piece of info is worth what you paid for it. The interwebs are indeed a double edge sword.

So the 9500 is really 8500 and the power and spec difference is the difference between the 2010 GT3 and GT3 RS. Simple misunderstanding.

total bs. zero shot. no way you wouldnt see a press release by now since production is basically there already. and more importantly, porsche is pretty smart. they have all those orders allready filled, locked in for the most part, why give up those HPs and features when that would then become the lure for the 2012, 2013 GT3RS.

id feel sorry for anyone that takes a 2011 GT3RS to some 9500 rpms.
enjoy the engine rebuild.

Already known as BS. Porsche already released the order guide for the 2011 and there are no driveline changes.

No way I can tell you guys how hard it was jus to do 8800 safely. Heck no the parts are not light enough and would stretch. The cams would be crazy too.

porsche is phasing out 997.2 platform along with current GT3 engine.

they have already R&D the platform to death and the end result is the 2010 RS as we know it. No more, no less.
The 2011 will be phasing out the remaining chassis and engines, no more, no less.

Porsche wouldnt bother making changes to their existing marketing and service manuals let alone engine tolerances for a measly few 2011 units.

Volkswagen financial department wouldnt approve

How did you determine the 8800 redline? Was this done based on the
calculated lighter weight of the parts or experimentally?

The engine builder can flow test the heads for peak HP and work backwards from there based on intended cylinder volume, compression, stroke, fuel range, atmospheric and ambient pressure and temperature range, then start to make decisions on materials, cylinder and piston composition, life span, tolerances, electronics (lord knows it requires computers to match the variable intake and exhaust valve durations with a two-way exhaust and package all that into something that meets emissions, fuel efficiency, noise ... then keep the marketing people happy with the note, the engineers happy, the drivers happy with drivability, throttle response, mid-range torque, peak HP delivery ... aargh!

Could you imagine an RS motor that could hit 9500 RPM? Could you imagine a sharky bypass on that engine hitting that RPM at full throttle going into your favorite tunnel? That sound would be sweeter than a Siren's Whale!!! It's itoxicating even thinking about it.

I heard +50hp, because Porsche thought a round 500hp number sounded better...
