Good question. The full evolution with side muffler is super quiet - more quiet than stock. Drone is completely eliminated with exhaust going through side mufflers. It sounded half way between stock and stock with Sharky bypass when you bypass side mufflers. A bit too quiet for me. I like a healthy dose of hearing loss before 65

Cool
As long as your OR has two post lift and your patient don't sue if I mess up
Any time
lol
I learn alot every time I tackle a project like this. No charge ... it's free
Yes, the Evolution system with exhaust bypass side muffler is much quieter than Race setup. This is due to the extra volume created by the side muffler which serve as some sort of sound deadening chamber.
Yeah, the image hosting site I used is ImageShack and they often have problem loading pictures. You just need to refresh your screen couple times and they should all pop up. Very annoying problem that often plague the image site. Let me know if there is a more stable free image hosting site

Just getting a chance to view videos. Interesting that full Evo system with Sport valve open posted 102.6db while Race system posted 106.8db. They are essentially the same in that configuration, correct? Full Evo system bypasses the side mufflers straight to center muffler (with Sport on) while Race omits the side mufflers; otherwise all other components the same?

I've found it's important to spray exhaust fasteners with a CRC or any penetrating oil and let them soak for a bit, otherwise, the heat cycles basically leave any threaded fastener "welded" tight.
It's also easier to remove the side and rear cans together rather than trying to get the rear can separated in situ. Clamp a plank to the pad of a floor jack and use that to support the exhaust.
Mikymu -- as ever, great write-up. Thanks!

(If I was as thorough as Mikymu, I'd have this demonstrated in a 3D animation and post out 3D glasses to Rennlisters ... : ) ... maybe next time ...)
And it's important to know what the service instructions require for anything going into the heads -- it's usually copper-based anti-seize, but you'd want to check.Mikymu -- as ever, great write-up. Thanks!

Mikymu your thread exemplifies why the Rennlist community is so incredible. Among the car forums I have perused, this is among the most thoroughly documented and helpful threads I have ever read. Very well done -- cheers!

Thanks for the excellent post
regarding a more stable free image hosting,
may I recommend you try,
http://photobucket.com/ ?
It is FREE with much better interface and faster loading and uploading.
I used to use Imageshack, but
now I use: http://photobucket.com/
by the way, do you have any plan to optimize
your ECU/Software in the future ?
It would be another interesting experience

The big G offers Picasa for free with Mac and Windows support (and the advantage of it being brain-dead simple to upload photos and choose private vs. published.) Apple's is even better if you want to print or create a printed photo album, but you can do that from iPhoto with less expense.

Just to reflect on this:
with Akrapovic and sharkwerks in place you are legal @ Laguna?
and if so, do you make more power with the sharkwerks center or the Akrapovic center piece?
Alas, which center piece do you now leave in place most of the time? preference?

I imagine that's "Also" not "Alas." I share the same question: If this thing passes sound at Laguna, I'll take it! If it costs an extra $10K (considering resale value, too) to be able to put down a real lap without muzzling the engine with the vacuum switch trick or giving up completely with the "shift and lift" nonsense, then I'm dumb enough to pony up the dough and damn the warranty torpedoes, I'll pay for my own RMS replacement when the time comes.

Awesome post. I watched the vid at TH - very cool. My 2 kids actually loved it too. They liked the music - which started in the middle. My 4 year old son loves Porsche racing vids. It was a fun 9 minutes - thanks for sharing..

3D ... now that's interesting. I use to make 3D pictures for retinal specialist during med school. I will look into that

Custom dyno tune is a work in progress ...
Akrapovic center muffler with Evolution set up made slightly more hp compare with Sharky center but when you divert exhaust through side mufflers Sharky center bypass made more hp and torque .... and 8 lbs lighter which will make more difference on the track. Less back pressure with Sharky center can potentially aid with RPM response. I have Race setup now and will switch to Evolution with Sharky soon in preparation for Laguna Seca.

No worry on RMS leak or warranty. Just put stock exhaust back when you need dealer service
Doctoring pays the bill for my car fetish

Just reviewing your installation details. Perhaps the difference is due to fact that butterfly valve doesn't close completely on Akra system (as opposed to stock) thereby allowing some bypass to side mufflers to still take place relative to completely eliminated side mufflers on Race system....
