Default GT3 traded for GTR

So I'm in Prime Porsche on Friday afternoon and some lucky guy is picking up a sweet used Black GT3 complete with Sharkwerks bypass. Turns out the car was traded to a sister dealership for a Nissan GTR. Go figure.

Anyway, the new owner must have had a fun ride home because it was raining pretty hard. Sharky sounded nice.

The GT3 may have been too much car for his driving abilities.

u haven't heard?
GTR is better than the german crap we have been driving.
afterall, GT3 drivers cannot enjoy the satisfaction of blown tranny just backing the car out the garage.

I think the GT-R can be traced back to 1969 -- the first Skyline GT-R (PGC10.)

Yet I am sure that owner will have a new found enjoyment with his GT3

I'm no expert and certainly not a fan, but I think he could call you right now. The Skyline dates back to 1962 and the GT-R badge was first used in 1969.

Had a a GTR for about 4 weeks before I flipped it. Evil I, I know.
I ordrered GTR but bout used GT3 in th emeanwhile. Car arrived and i was very impressed. Just seemed untested on the track and expensive to maintain VS a sure thing with a GT3. I think I was right.

As a street car only with maybe an occasional track day for a beginner the car is fine, just like M BMW's and AMG Mercedes etc. As a street car I would take the nissan over almost any car at that price. GTR / Skylines have a cult status elsewhere in the world, is very capable and great every day Turbo torque.

Personally I also think it is a fantastically beautiful car, specifically in the details, it is an exotic looking car. With the garage door open everyone was all over the new GTR, no one gave the little looking GT3 a glance.

GTR was a good car.
you know like datsun 510 and 240z.
then 240 ate too much got fat and old 280 2+2, 300zx .....
much like M3, e30m3 was real, e36m3 was made to stroke american mkt. e46 tolerable, e90.... i much rather just drive my GMC.

the new GTR is so good so fast and so technology driven it's like flying a jet. if i wanted to fly a jet, i would have joined USAF. i want to drive a car.

that doesn't mean GTR is a bad car. just that i am not made for the car.
sort of like you get me a bottle of mccallum, i would empty it and fill it with gatorade, simple b/c i can't drink.

GTR is a great car, just not for me.

A good friend has both a R35 GT-R and a 997 RS.

He uses the GT-R as a daily driver and has recently taken it on track - mid track day I got a text message from him saying how stupidly good the Nissan was and how rapid and capable it was.

The next day we had the chance to chat about it and my question was, "would you have been quicker in your RS?" and his answer was yes; however, in less capable hands, he thought the GT-R would both flatter the driver and offer close times to the RS.

His comments followed Mooty's point - "the new GTR is so good so fast and so technology driven it's like flying a jet. if i wanted to fly a jet, i would have joined USAF. i want to drive a car."

The GT-R is less involved than the RS - akin to comparing digital and analogue (the RS being analogue)

I respect what Nissan have bought to the table but imho, it is better compared to the 997 Turbo than the GT3/RS
