Thrill seeker comes in all fashion and we can blame it on dopamine. Research has shown that "Adrenaline Junkies" has less autoreceptors which serve as "brakes" in dopamine release in the reward center of the midbrain. Both animal and human subjects with less "brakes" are more likely to explore in novel and risky environments where other find intimidating. Common safety measures may be over looked for the sake of dopamine reward.

I make it a habit of tickling my autoreceptors on top of the safety check list before a track event

All the gear all the time and I run in the summer in FL, fire is MUCH hotter than a suit. A friend had a lipstick camera on his helmet and we were able to watch a rather LARGE fire erupt from the hood of his 944 T. Good news no injury, better news the suit he had hanging in his trailer at the time is now always on his body.

Gear up and be safe.
