Default Fun fact for GT2 owners...

Insure.com's annual ranking of average car insurance premiums reveals that the Porsche 911 Carrera GT2 two-door coupe is the most expensive vehicle to insure among 2010 models. A 40-year-old man would pay a national average of $2,943.78 for car insurance annually, and that's assuming the driver had a good driving record.

That's crazy. I wonder why it's so much higher than a GT3. I was amazed when my insurance barely changed when I went from C2S to GT3 RS.

There was another thread on this. Before picking up my GT3, I had a discusion with my insurance agent and what I should or should not buy. In the state of Texas, the highest index car is a Viper; any model and any year. It is the only car with an index above 40. I am on Allstate Preferred with a squeeky clean record and he told me they no longer underwrite Vipers (over $35K). The reason is that Vipers are the highest of all sports cars on accident rates and they have the highest average repair bill. No problem insuring a GT2. I thought about buying a used one. Insurance would have been close to my GT3, which is only $400 more than my previous 02 Carrera. The cost increase was solely due to initial cost of the car. Neither accident rates or average repair costs on the GT3 were higher than my Carrera. I had him look up a Z06 by comparison and despite the lower initial cost, it would have been close to $400 more than the GT3 due to much higher accident rates and average repair bills.

That's odd. My insurance company (AAA) doesn't differentiate between sub-models. A Carrera 2 is the same as a GT2.

AAA had not caught up yet. I have AAA too and it's dirt cheap to insure my RS. Almost the same as insuring my Honda lol

When I insured my GT3 the agent told me I was lucky it wasnt a GT2 because he could not write a policy for it - Mercury in CA. The cost on my policy went down... about $20 for whatever reason. GT3 replaced a MBZ. go figure.

To bad there are no 2010 GT2's.

My insurance went up quite a bit over the GT3.
