Default Final answer for 2010 RS titanium exhaust setup

So there are alot of confusing information from Porsche regarding the 2010 RS titanium exhaust setup. Does it have titanium from header to the tail pipes or just the center muffler and the tail pipes? I seen couple pictures of RS delivered to US and there are the titanium blue glow on the center muffler and no where else. I contacted Ric at suncoast Porsche to answer this question once for all by comparing parts number and price between Gen1 GT3/RS and Gen2 RS. Well, it turns out the price for everything except the center muffler and tips are the same. The most logical conclusion is that 2010 RS have steel headers, cats and side mufflers and titanium center muffler and tips.

2010 RS owners please chime in if you see the titanium blue glow anywhere else.

So we can get the center titanium tailpipe for $645.50 from suncoast?

I assume it will work on a 997.1 GT3

That's what I want to know. It must drop 12-15 lbs or so. The OEM gt3 center weighs 20 lbs.

I thought you did a Sharky bypass?

I think it should but I don't have the specs. Check with Ric at suncoast first before you pull the trigger

I don't think the Titanium center muffler on the 2010 RS is that much lighter compare with steel setup. Considering Akrapovic full titanium center muffler with tips only save 4.4 lbs and sharkwerks center muffler bypass shave 14 lbs.

Akrapovic full titanium center muffler with tips shave 4.4 lbs

Sharkwerks center muffler bypass shave 14 lbs

Yeah, pay no attention to people at the dealer. They will find every excuse to void warranty - if you wore the wrong shoes they will void your warranty lol.

Just do it and it will knock off 14 lbs from the rear and sound alot better!

No, unfortunately this is true, at least in regards to the RMS:

-----Begin Quote-----
Models: 911 GT3/GT3RS (997)
Model Year: 2007-2008
Concern: Engine oil leaks.
Information: Supporting the dealer organization in complex fault finding on technically challenging and costintensive
components is of highest importance for Porsche to ensure long-lasting customer
satisfaction.
Dealers should not carry out any repair attempts for 997 GT3 and GT3RS engine oil leaks before first
consulting their technical support group with Porsche Cars North America. This includes oil leaks from
the front and rear crankshaft sealing rings, the crankcase mating surfaces, cylinder head mating surfaces,
oil cooling components and oil pipes.
Porsche requests complete, detailed case information when a 997 GT3 or GT3RS engine is found to
have oil leaks. This includes a verification of the vehicle’s detailed repair history (even beyond PQIS &
Warranty history), a verification of the exact area of leakage with sharp, high-resolution pictures as well
as a verification of any and all technical modifications on the vehicle (e.g. non-Porsche exhaust
systems). A vehicle analysis log is also requested for these cases.

This is precisely why I haven't fitted a Sharkwerks bypass to my car.

I am keeping mine bone stock until the warranty is up and then I'll go nuts. I don't even want to get into that type of argument with the dealer.

Very interesting and thinks for posting this. I wonder what aftermarket mufflers have to do with a RMS oil leak though? Can anyone explain this?

Porsche have taken a similar stance in England, as have most other performance car makers.

My understanding is that they (the company) have to prove that the modification could have caused, or contributed to, the problem that you are trying to claim under warranty. The onus would then be on yourself to prove that it hasn't, should they decline to fix the warranty item because of a modification.

While it sounds simple, as with most things litigious, it is often the person with the deepest pockets who wins.

In England, Porsche will also not extend your warranty unless you car is 100% stock - they will even not allow you to extend the warranty if you put a non-oem battery in the car!
