The camera, lens and external mic arrived from Amazon. The wide angle lens seems to work really well (you have to set it on macro mode first for it to focus properly). If you're braincells were spent during your youth, note that the lens fits on by pressing the two spring-loaded tabs on the side. I almost took glue gun to camera+lens because I thought the lens was too big

I haven't tested it in the car, but the field of view is remarkably clear in the center and the edges with only a minimal amount of rounding (not sure what the technical word is). It also shows a lot more content with the wide angle, which should be great in the car. I tried the external mic and it's certainly way louder than the internal, but won't know how good it is until I play with it in the car.

Hoping to get on the track next week if the weather holds and will report back on how it goes.
