Default GT3 Front Bumper Question

Does anyone know (for sure!) if the black plastic piece indicated by the arrow in this photo is a removable insert or an integral (unpainted) part of the bumper cap? - Thanks!

It is NOT removable. Mine is painted white, which looks like the 997.1 front end.

Hmm... now I am confused. RSS checked with Porsche and provided this response:

We do indeed have the outer trim available separate and the grille screen
available separate as well.

Trim frame: retail $87.58
Grille screen: retail $200.48

I can have the frame today if you need one, let me know.

Bryan

Yeah, it pops out but you have to remove the bumper to do it.

Thanks... sounds like an easy way to remove that 'lipstick' look from an RS!

Sorry guys, I hadn't seen the inside of the bumper prior to posting. That's good news. Another mod for the her while she's at Stuttgart Performance for the week?

It turns out you were correct, after all!

Bryan just sent a note with the correction. The part they were looking at was the back plate for the screen; not the front plastic surround. That piece does appear to be a part of the bumper clip and would need to be masked and repainted. Now we know!

I guess I need to say "I was wrong." On the track cars I have that piece surely comes out and serves to hold the rubber lip into the front radiator. They are a pain to install correctly so I guess it is time for something better now.
Sorry for the mis-information, and glad to learn something new.

I guess not, looks like we have to repaint the entire front bumper or mask it and just do that part.

^ Unfortunately, yes... turns out to be more of a pain than we had hoped.

I'm looking into it already. Probably clear bra + vinyl.
