HOD @ Thunderhill on 2/20
Anyone planning on going? I haven't done a HOD event in the past, can anyone comment on if they are well run events? Roughly how many sessions will each group get in?

I ran with them once ... my first time ever at Thunderhill. Hated the novice experience. You gather at the entrance to the track waving down instructors that just come off the track with other students - hoping to get a decent one that don't get mad at you. Most of them looked really beat. One "gigantic" instructor imposed and I can't wait for the session to end ... super rude. I never went back and hope they run it better now days. Too expensive for Thunderhill IMHO

I'll be there. ..and if everything goes as planned, laguna on 2/22. I agree that it is too expensive - but I am getting impatient and there aren't any good (inexpensive) venues for Thill this month.
EDIT: Looks like rain for Saturday.....

Yeah, that was the one I mentioned earlier. Pretty bad experience. HOD is just too expensive. $280+ for thunderhill is not reasonable. I don't know the detail but there maybe some sort of monopoly going on there and drove out competitor such as NCRC that offer inexpensive track day for $125 - more than 1/2 of HOD. This is why there are very few track days offer by other organization other than HOD this year. A law suit has been filed by NCRC and we will see what happen

yeah, i saw the NCRC law suit. not sure what that's all about.
agree that HOD is costly.
those in norcal, you NEED to join PCA GGR track days. things have changed and it is good. first few event are well..... rite of passage you know. but after that... GGR is my first choice, then the rest of the groups.
the instructor is MUCH better than TMR (and i like TMR and instruct there too), better than NCRC and HOD. only some of the top CCA instructors come close.
and you are sourrounded by nothing but PORSCHES.
