Default 997 GT2 - Akrapovic

Akrapovic system has arrived. Quality looks great. The muffler has a different shape vs the OEM unit. The internals of the muffler are also different in that it has an internal spiral shaped cross-over. The OEM unit is baffled. Waiting on gaskets to arrive and will then install.

Please don't forget to take pictures of the Exhaust after you install it and turn on the engine for the first time.

I really want to see how Blue and on which part of the exhaust where the Bluish color taking shape.

Thanks

Love their work. See they've just brought out the Evolution Race system for the GT3.2 - very tempting...

Worth wiping down the tips with WD40 before you use it in anger. Fingerprints will burn in on Ti tips as soon as it gets hot.

Isn't the standard 997 GT2 system a Titanium one made by Akrapovic anyway?

So whats the improvement on this one?

stock one is from stainless steel with 600 cels cats, only the center muffler is from akrapovic and it's baffled and much more restructuve than the aftermarket akrapovic which is crossflow design with larger tubing and 100 cells or 400 cells cats depending the option you choose, the headers are far better too. The aftermarket akra has a squared section muffler , the stock akra has a triangle shaped muffler.

pics of the stock one

Never knew Akrapovic made exhausts for Porsche. I have seen their motorcycle stuff and it's pure art work inside and out. Does anyone know if they make exhausts for other Porsches aside from the 997 GT2??

They make them for the 997.1 and .2 GT3 and RS in different versions and they are awesome.

MGS996,
Congrats!! the system looks amazing , i was wondering if the cargraphic cats will fit on the akrapovic muffler resonator ??" the piping that connects to the muffler after the catalyics"
Since I’m running a catless system on my RS tuning 997 gt2 i think it would benefit my car as it will decrease backpressure positively.

No it won't fit, the diameters are different and location of where the pipes meet the mufflers are different also and no Akra do not want to make custome one/two offs

The new 997tt.2 looks to have an Akra muffler also as factory fit !

I Guess i should of gone the akrapovic route from the first place...
Are you planning to install the Akra? or do you think it will change your cars characteristics and power delivery?

I too have "Akra envy" it is georgeous kit isn't it ?

I am wondering about the headers, diameters etc.... RS Tuning are pretty adamant that the headers they developed originally for the 996tt Alzen monster took a lot of work to get right in terms of diameters and lengths and most important long term race strength/reliablility. I guess it is moot that are we getting those exact same headers now from CG - I would hope so.....

Akra headers look georgeous but quite what development they have been through ? The Akra GT2 seems to be fairly standard apart from the exhaust...

Secondly those Emitec 100 cell cats are not what RS recommend, they have a lot of experience with race cats in the turbo application and are very specific about which ones to use.....

Awe....b0llocks, I just have Akra envy
