I am still new to the GT3, so maybe this is a dumb question (no track time as yet) - I've noticed that under hard acceleration the front end seems to lift a bit and the car seems to wander just slightly (on fwy doing a 3rd or 4th gear pull). Its not too bad, but it is just enough to make me hang on a little tighter. Anyone else notice this - if it take it in, what should be checked out? Recommend any shops in North OC ?? Thanks

I have it also on the street alignment set-up. I think it´s a result of the 38:62 weight distribution, uneven road surface and uneven weight distribution in the cabin if you are just one-up.

If anybody else has a different explanation, I would love to know.

im also new to gt3,just recently got it, it does seem to lift at the front under hard acceleration,especially near start or nearing mid corner, you have to learn the balance of the car, and when you feel the front have enough grip give it lots of gass and it will infact start to give you the feeling oversteer and monster grip upfront.

i think the reason why gt3 is hard to master is because every corner needs a different strategy of attack,where as in front engine cars that we all drive everyday you go full throttle until you near its limit and then lift off slightly.

also ive noticed if you go full throttle from a stop,you get massive lift up front in 1st and 2nd.almost feels like its going to takeoff. dont worry just drive it everyday and youll get used to the balance,then you will complain about over steer instead

Lift is normal and ruts can certainly cause the front end to move around but wandering and that "unstable" feeling is probably due to the rear alignment. The toe has to be equal side to side or the GT3 feels terrible. Most alignment shops are not accurate enough to get it right as a slight variation is all it takes; it can easily be in the correct range still out enough to feel weird.

does it change with it in sport? What Mooty said. Remember, no matter what we wish the GT3 is a street car and built more for comfort. The 996 would squat and especially the autocross guys could not stand the spring rates and dampers.

Mike I haven't had a chance to take it on the track yet it's still at Tatum Racing at Miller Motorsport Park. We're picking it up in a few weeks and taking it to Spring Mountain; in the meantime it will get new graphics. Plus it NEEDS a cup rear wing

fitting the cup front splitter might also provide a little more front end downforce.

If you are new to a 911 (rear engine / rwd) versus say M3 (front engine rwd) or any audi (front engine 4wdr), then yes this is one of the first things you will instantly "feel" when you enter the gt3 - I remember the feeling (****, the front is floating feeling).

Part of this is certainly real versus other platforms but it is a "feel" thing - i.e. you are feeling a lighter car - it doesn't per say imply that grip is different.

Secondly, until you can verify your alignment (see it with your own eyes from a shop that knows what they are doing) you are sol. I also remember this feeling when I first got the car - if I went wot, it could feel kind of scary on certain highways changing lanes. If you weigh the cost of your car with the cost of a really good alignment and the guaranteed improvement you will feel / peace of mind it is a no brainer. I also believe adamantly that this car feels 100% better on the street with an alignment that works better on the track.

My recommendation to you for a street alignment is:

-2.2 front camber with stock toe-in (do not worry about this camber eating your inner front tires as the rear will always wear out first and there is so little weight in the front it does not matter - the added camber really helps the "feeling" when turning

- 2.0 rear camber with 2mm per side toe-in (4mm total toe - this toe-in glues the rear of the car)

The more you drive the gt3(911) the more you will get use to the lighter front feeling and you will then not notice it

I'm also new to the gt3- and agree with everything you guys are saying. .

Howerver, I'm a little confused about the alignment conversation - are you guys saying that everyone who will track their car should immediately go have it re-aligned? Why does the factory not do this properly?
