Default CPO process and cost?

What should the CPO process consist of and cost? My dealer said, the next service due, all new tires (cups in my case), inspection, and fix any problems (none I'm aware of). About $4,000.

They also said on a quick sale to a 3rd party, they would expect $2,500 profit.

Does all this sound right?

No, but perhaps the dealer is passing on the cost of the tires, inspection and service to you but making appear as though it is part of the CPO?

I just had a 2007 GT3 RS CPO'd by the dealer that sold me the car. To qualify for the Porsche CPO program a Porsche dealer must take title to the car. As far as I know the CPO cost is $2000.00 plus an inspection fee (~$150.00) to assess the condition of the car. In my case the dealer waived the inspection fee. I believe the CPO cost is a flat rate and not subject to additional charges.

My car also had new tires installed at the time of purchase but that was included in the purchase price and negotiated at the time of sale.

During the CPO process a RMS leak was repaired as well as an additional oil leak that was found during the inspection. I have owned many cars from numerous manufacturers and the Porsche CPO program is the best of its kind, nothing even close IMHO.

the "process" is correct.
to certify the car, a porsche dealer MUST OWN the car. they cannot certify YOUR car. if it's a lease, at end of lease, the dealer can BUY the car, cpo it, then sell to you. but they must own the car in inventory to do that, even if just owning it for a nano second.

$4000 is not the cpo itself, that's inc labor for them to chk your car and replace all items that need to be up to snuff as far as PCNA is concerned before they can cpo it.

I had a dealer claim they could CPO a consignment car, I guess I know how honest they are overall now!

well, consignment....
at the moment of sales, if dealer did it the paper work, it MAY NOT be consignment.
they can have you sign a release of liability, they pay you or they pay your lender.
then they technically own the car.
then they sell the car to buyer.

Dealer tried to stick my buddy for new tires when he bought my C2S.

In the end it was CPO'd (here in Canada) with MPS2 tires that were over a year old and had 10,300kms including a day or two of track time.

I was told as long as the tires would pass a "safety check" standard, they would qualify for a Porsche CPO.

Really the CPO is a mechanical warranty which has noting to do with tires....

if your tires are on their last legs, they will replace it and charge YOU in addition to charging you with CPO.

you can put on new tires before you go in fo CPO chk.

tire rack prices are $4-500 less per set than dealer prices usually

On the CPO documents I have seen, it requires the tires to be replaced if the tread depth is less than 4 mm. . One car that I was considering for purchase had new MPSC's all around, and the technician had noted on the form that " tires come new with 4 mm. of tread, no need to replace."
