Default Track Consumables PITA for 997.2 RS

Guess everyone is too worried about what color to pick and what option to put on . As nice as the new RS is going to be, it looks like it's gonna be a PITA to track over the MK1. I've been diggin around for a while and haven't found much.

- options for front 380mm rotors??
- Finding 18" CL wheels (hopefully John at CCW will come thru)
- Hoosiers dont make a 245 front in 19" if no 18" wheel. Maybe the 265 will fit?

what are you a glass is half empty kind of guy or what? j/k

actually i'm exited about all these "problems" all over again. I'm sure John will come through. He always has before. I would LOVE 265 on front of this car if it fits!

Hi Ryan,...

I think BBS E88 have a new version that designed to fit for the new GT3 center lock mechanism...
I remember I read it here somewhere...
but I do not know whether they have it in 18inches size or not though...

Several wheel outfits have promised centerlocks. For the rotors, the 380 mm Cup rotors should fit fine.

Use Pagid 8004 cup pads with no fitment issues?

CCW answered me that they will go to work on it as soon as they have completed moving their facility.
BB$ told me they will have a one piece 18" also.

I think for the $ I prefer CCW.

I don't know if they need an actual RS there or not, but offered mine.

Not sure who will make cheap, (heavy) rotors like Protosport, but if not the Cup rotors should be a cheaper alternative then OEM. What do the OEM and CUP 380mm front rotors cost and what is the difference?

With Hoosiers I run 255/40/18 and 315/34/18 I am not familiar with wider rear sizes.

I also like Toyo RA1 tires.
The OEM specs say:
Size with tires (front) 8.5J x 19 GT3 245/35 ZR 19 That should fit RA1 245/40/18
Size with tires (rear) 12J x 19 GT3 325/30 ZR 19 That should fit RA1 335/30/18

Pads are the same in the rear, a little different for the front, I guess Pagid yellow R29 is still the best way to go.

Heard the same thing from John a few weeks ago. I only run hoosiers at the track...so thinking 255/35/18 and 335/30/18 for the RS if soneone make a rim to fit over the caliper. Both about 2.8% off so equal change front to rear. Both less than 1/2" wider so might fit. Like the Pagid yellow, but love the pagid blacks! Don't last as long, but can't beat that initial bite! I know the cup rotors are cheaper, but by how much, don't know, never ran them...I prefer slotted if some cheap ones are available.

I wonder if the Cayenne 380mm rotors will fit?

A PITA it is.. ;-)

I hope I can figure out the CL stuff without screwing up.
I'm just assuming 18" will fit because both CCW and BBS will make 'em.

255/35/18 and 335/30/18 should be fine, I run 255 hoosiers on the front now, but the front finders are no wiser on the inside of the finder, so should be the same. Some guys have fit 265 on the front and 335 on the rear of an RS already.
I don't mind smaller front tire in the RA1 sizes, I need more tire in the back (Sway bar rear all the way soft) Maybe I can create some understeer inthe RS ;-)

I love getting 8+ days out of the yellows, and I would expect a little more heat if using the black.

If the 380mm form a Cayenne will fit, than Protosport will slot them

I'm always a bit surprised at how many guys want to run the 265s in the front, it just seems like mega overkill for me or maybe my driving style- I found the 245s/ 315 combo to be heavy-duty enough but kinda prevent the kind of slow-handed smooth + slidey two wheels off on exits I love so much

Agreed! I ran the 245/315 on my '07. With '10 RS original size 245/325 19" (original size on '07 235/305).
No 325 18" Hooiser, so go to the 335. Since increase the rears, bump the fronts to 255 tp keep the balance.
