PORSCHE 911 GT3 R: NEW CUSTOMER RACING CAR
FOR INTERNATIONAL GT SPORT
Built for FIA GT3 regulations, better-handling 911 race car replaces GT3 Cup S
MISSISSAUGA – November 19, 2009 --- Following the recently-revealed Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, Porsche AG is releasing yet another racing car in the 2010 motorsport season. The 911 GT3 R will be raced by customers in series based on the international FIA GT3 regulations and will succeed the 911 GT3 Cup S.
The main focus in developing the new model was better drivability and easier handling. An anti-lock brake system (ABS), traction control and an electronic gas with “throttle-blip” function make it much easier to get used to this new GT3 racing car than its predecessor, making the new model easier to drive for ambitious amateur racing drivers.
The 911 GT3 R is powered by a four-litre six-cylinder boxer engine delivering a maximum output of 480 bhp, transmitted to the rear axle by a sequential six-speed gearbox.
The 911 GT3 R, which weighsjust 1,200 kg, is based on the 911 GT3 Cup, presented in September and designed for one-make cup racing. Thanks to its increased engine size, up from 3.8 litres, the GT3 R offers 30 bhp more than the Cup model.
Both cars are based on the extra-wide body of the 911 GT3 RS street-legal sports car. On the GT3 R, flared wheel arches added on to the body both front and rear indicate a wider track than on the former model. And like all new 911 models, the GT3 R also comes with striking LED rear light clusters.
The Porsche 911 GT3 R will debut on 14 January 2010 at the Birmingham Motor Show. The car is built by Porsche’s Motorsport Department at the Weissach Development Centre and will be delivered to customer teams around the world starting in spring 2010. The base price is 279,000 Euros.

That puppy obsoletes a lot of the need for mods and tweaks...4.0 liters no less. Who said it couldn't be done? 480HP (that's German HP, known to be conservative!)
Seems like the perfect car for the hot shoes! Oh! if only I could drive!
Mooty? Forget the RS!

LOL, how did i know you were going to post this...
i would very interested. i thought it's a "baby" cup car.
then i saw it has more HP than cup car, then its *** is wider still ( i love wide ***, in car and in women)....
usually more hp = more USD.
as long as bank of PMH is financing me at 0% over 25 years. i am ready.
