the weissach facility is the test bed for new cars like the panamera and gT3rs as well as their skunkworks site. they definitely work on prototypes there but not production vehicles.
so- developed in weissach, built in stuttgart. it's that simple. cup cars, rs spyders, rsr, etc = built in weissach. gt3 etc = tested in weissach. it's handy to test new suspension and exhaust, etc when you've got a race track on campus!

Neither is true. 997.1 gt3 and gt3rs (mk1) were built at the regular production (assembly) line at Zuffenhausen. Compared to many over robotized auto production facilities in Germany (Mercedes and BMW come to mind), Porsches still have quite a bit of 'hand' work by the standards of the industry today. But don't confuse a racing RSR 'hand' assembled in Weissach with a with a gt3 RS built in Zuffenhausen. Even the former's 'in white' chassis was built on the Zuffenhausen production line. z356
C.J: that is true, but many parts of the GT3 range do come from Weissach. take a peek here:

yeah zico that's what I'm talking about- they develop and test new parts there because of the track on site
I've been there! I saw the 2010 rs last december, and the new 2010 cup car as well...both were still prototypes.
