Default Panamera First Drive

Took my GT3 on a drive to the dealer this morning to see if they had any new goodies in stock. While there I got to test drive a new Panamera S. The car looks better in person and the thing is really fast and tight. The sport mode/PDK is amazing and the V8, 400 hp, will flat get up and go. The car feels heavy on roll out but amazingly nimble under way. I think it weighs 4900 lbs. Nice tight turning radius, got some G load testing done in an empty parking lot, nothing abusive, the car is built like a brick, yet really responsive. Beautiful interior, luxurious, but sporty, and great seats. Very nice! Can't help but wonder when they will make it a coupe.

I saw the S at my dealer Friday. I wasnt impressed. To me it looks just like the pics bloated. A 911 or a GT3 is a minimalist car. The panamera is the exact opposite.

Just give it a little more time.... it is particularly awesome and then some... then you can try the Turbo... it is the "bees knees"

was at my dealer and he had one of each.

i LOVE the thing. unfortunately the Turbo is in that strange blue, a "release" color and optioned car. it was not an impressive color.

i'm trying to hold out for a year or two but it will be tough... a garage with a GT3 and a Pano T would be the t!ts.

You have to get the RS Spyder multispokes and the Air Suspension for it to look right. I agree...engine was great and the interior quality was first rate. Almost Bentley-like...almost...

^ yachting blue is the color with the white and blue interior. Very much a Bentley and Land Rover combo. Every dealer in the Country got the same two cars. A black S and the Blue turbo. As Jay Leno said: It is not as ugly in person. I guess if you do not have an I drive you end up with 50 buttons and switches. A Gulf Stream has fewer. It is fast and comfortable but not for me.

I'll be checking out at the dealer tomorrow when I take the GT3 in (mainly to get my small RMS leak documented while still under warranty).

Hopefully will take a test drive.

Can we leave the Panablunda dialog over on the forum specially set aside for commiserating the descent of Porsche into madness, please? : )

I can't wait to test drive the Panamera. Before the Panamera I really had been looking at the Maserati quadroporte or the CLS 63 AMG as a four door sedan but maybe Panamera, we shall see. One of the local dealers here in Miami has a test drive event this week, I'm going to check it out.

One of the magazines had a drawing this month. I think it was Road and Track. Looked pretty good actually - better than the sedan.

Ah! I remember the "early" Cayenne carping too.

The Turbo is awesome, much better than I expected since I had already driven the 4S and S.

It ain't a kid hauler but it is a "horse for a course"...if that course fits the bill...and it will for many.

A little ancedote:- The shifts are so fast that the it stays back on the suspension under acceleration and shifts... this is a "go to jail" car.

If it is "madness" I want to be in the asylum.
