This year at the Frankfurt Auto Show, Porsche is revealing the updated 997 Porsche GT3 RS.

Manager of High Performance Cars for Porsche, Andreas Preuninger, gave us the opportunity to ride shotgun as he took the first produced 2010 Porsche GT3 RS out for a ride on the Autobahn yesterday evening. Due to traffic, he was only able to get the car up to 292kph (181 mph) on the unrestricted A5 Autobahn.

The second half of the video, Andreas tells us what went into the development process for the new GT3 RS and what the car is capable of doing with the new technology and performance upgrades from the previous generation.

 

The driveway spoiler scraping sound never gets better...OUCH!!!

 

I want one soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad! That grey paint is AWESOME!

That exhaust/engine sound is crazy good. Mighty fine car.

 

it does sound a bit... responsive. CGT like almost.

God..... I love that car. How to get one, how to get one.....actually....how to convince my wife! Really, I can sell it in 15 years to help pay for the kids' college!

 

I love it too. I sure hope I can swing it and get one. Hoe much can I get for two pugs?

Question for those who have taken delivery of 997.2 GT3 - do the interior/instrument lights have that bluish cast as depicted in the autobahn night scene, or is that just an artifact of the video?

I noticed that also. the new GT3 backlights are not blue

 

Hmm... New RS = 1370 kgs; Race car = 1180 kgs; "Only 100 kgs less than the race car". Did I hear it correctly, or is that MARKETING MATH (where 190 kgs = 100 kgs!)
