Default 2010 GT3 owners with Sport Buckets

I was wondering if the Sport Bucket seats as installed in the new GT3's are mounted lower than they are in the Carreras? I found that they were mounted quite high in the Carrera S I tried and was hoping they'd be a bit lower in the GT3. Anyone able to compare?

Thanks!

Default Sport seats

"P03 Sport Bucket Seats" in my 2010 GT3 are lower than a standard seat. I cannot compare to a Carrera S as these seat are unique to this years GT3. The carbon shelled folding sport seats.

Can someone confirm that these seats are compatible with six-point harnesses (plus roll-bar,etc.)?

Yes they are!

The Clubsport option available ROW will confirm this..

Can we get the fire extinguisher here, too?

I rode in a GT3 mkII when I was at the BMW Nurburgring school in August - one of the participants from Switzerland had the car in white, exactly as I've spec'd it out, and had the clubsport package. I remember thinking the fire extinguisher looked really cool.

What is the difference between the GT2 Bucket Seats that are also an option in the Carrera and these seats that are in the 2010 GT3? They look the same to me.

I sat in the carbon fiber back sport seats in a GT2 and in a 09 Carrera S and they sat way up too high as my head was into the head liner...no way I could even get a helmet on in these seats.

What gives with them being mounted so dang high?

The side brackets of the GT2 sport seat are steel -- it would be relatively easy to drill lower mounting holes and reposition the bucket ... there are electronics under the seat at least on one side, so it would take some planning to get the seat as low as possible and sit allow it to slide without interference.

They are optional in the 2009 Carreras and Caymans too...

This was my experience with the Carrera too and I'm hoping the situation is improved with the GT3.

Grant - I have no problem with helmet clearance in the GT3 with the sport buckets. In my 993, my helmet rubs against the roof liner.

They were optional on 2008 Carreras, Caymans, and Boxsters, too. And of course they were available on the GT2.

I believe the newer bucket seats can be folded forwards, while the older GT2 seat is a fixed bucket which can only slide back and forth on the rails. I might be wrong though.

Nice! How much room would you say is left between your helmet and headliner?

Known as the 'GT2', 'sport bucket', or 'P03' seat, it has side airbags and folds forward, and has been available on all Porsche sports cars in the US since 2008. The one-piece 'Carrera GT' seat was not available in the US, did not have airbags, and did not fold forward. In other countries it was standard on the GT3RS and optional on the GT3 (still is in 2010).
