Default Brake Pad Wear Issue

The leading edge (lower) of my front pads were almost worn out while the upper part of the pad had 50-75% remaining. I am running steel rotors (performance friction) and the stock red calipers on my 08 GT3. I know that there is a prior post referencing this issue.

I am interested to know if there are individuals who are running in upper run groups/instructors that are not having this issue?

Thanks.

I believe that issue is common across the 997 GT3.1 series. I run in the top group, to answer your question, and I have the same problem. Z

It's "normal". Run top group also, same issue.

Swap your pads to the opposite sides of the caliper after every couple of events to even out the wear. Just my .02

Would not recommend doing that. as you would not have full consistent contact with the rotor .... plus depending on the pads you are using .. they usually only last 2-3 events anyhow.

997 GT2 with pccb's here, same brake pad issue. i now switch out my pads at around 50% wear to prevent the brass pins in the pads killing the rotors. the funny thing is that at 50% wear the pads wear almost evenly top to bottom. its after that point i'm seeing uneven or premature wear on the lower side of the pads

I get that problem on the front pads not real bad but it happens. I have swapped the pads around to extend life with no issues.

Default pad wear

I get the same disproportionate wear at the inferior edge of the pads on the front calipers. The stay decent for 4-5 track days, and then they get very tapered to the point that they are not very effective.

On Pagid Yellow R29 I get 4 days (about 16 sessions) than I flip them for another 4 days. The last days you have to pay attention as the pedal goes softer.

I only worry a bit about therear calipers they are dark brown now instead of bright red like the fronts. I added the rear cooling ducts and that seems to help.

Brake cooling is part of the problem, so I was told.
Is the right side more pronounced?

Mine wear like that om all 4 corners in and outside.

When I flip them after 4 track days it is OK, and than after another 4 days the look like above. if I wait 6 days they also look like the picture above, just a little thicker.

I don't think my car had shims?
I only put the pads in, nothing else there.
