Rennline has a couple options with 1 that does not require a trickle charger. A trickle charger is needed when using an Odyssey 680, which is a general purpose motorcycle battery. The Odyssey 680 is 14-16 lbs (depending on version) with 680 cranking amps and a 17 amp hour capacity. The capacity and cranking amps are plenty for a motorcycle, but not exactly plentiful for a car. With the Rennline bracket, weight is 16-18 lbs.

For normal driving applications, Rennline has a second option using an Odyssey 925 battery. The Odyssey 925 is a compact battery designed for normal automotive use. The Odyssey 925 is 24-26 lbs (depending on version) with 925 cranking amps and a 28 amp hour capacity. Cranking amps are higher than most OEM batteries and plenty of reserve capacity. With the Rennline bracket, weight is 26-28 lbs. It is 10 lbs heavier than the 680 battery, but still a sustantual weight savings over the stock battery and usable for every day.

Odyssey batteries are great. I used the PC 625 for many years in my Miura S (which sat far too often). They have plenty of cold cranking power, but little reserve. Odysseys work well in situations where they sit, as long as the battery is disconnected.

The PC 925 in my wife's Dino is still working after 5 years.

However, in my experience, these things are easily killed when allowed to fully discharge. That's what happened with first battery in both cars; service guys (waiting for parts) had the cars for too long and didn't use the battery disconnect switch.

Interesting order guide shows the battery is GT3 available in Europe as shown in Supertest specs (post #6)

AFAIK, the lithium battery option is available only in conjunction with lightweight headlamps.

I think the reason is that

a) it does not work with xenons
and/or
a) xenons are not FIA approved (motorsport)

Xenons draw less current that Halogens, so Xenons and a smaller battery is a naturally fit, imo.

I have 2 Odyssey batteries in the '04 GT3 and '07 RS... a lot cheaper and significant weight savings.

You are right, but the "lightweight headlight" option gives you Halogens.

"Lightweight driver" option will save me 20 lbs. Switch from Guinness to "light"
