Dealers can market adjust all they want.
The smart customer will not bite.
Another current egregious example is a Penske Franchise in CA
asking $40,000 over MSRP for the GT3.2.
What if any examples have you seen in other parts of the country

LOL And if they are asking 40k over for the GT3 it will be sitting there a year from now just like the GT2 has been for the last year when they were originaly asking around 275k now down to 185k. Great sales strategey they have going there...

Having had a firm rule about never selling to retail customers, a large part of me hopes and assumes that 20 such people do not exist. On the other hand, it would be fun to do a run of really good parts and make 20 or more Cartridge Edition Porsches. The reason, by the way, for at least 20 people is to be able to reasonably amortize the cost of in excess of $100,000 just for proper metal molds.
P.S. In May 2008, I sent certain individuals at Porsche AG an outline of a plan for a modern day 911R -- 2200 Pounds – 475 HP – 435 Nm Torque (better P/W ratio than the CGT). Things, however, were going well and no one thought such a car was necessary -- or that anyone would care. P.P.S. That car, far more interesting than, at least in my opinion, a CGT or much anything else, could have sold for under $300,000 with a substantial profit for Porsche.

Boston-area dealers are MSRP or better based on my experience. P-car dealers around here seem to be a little more realistic/honest/ethical (you pick the noun) than in some other parts of the country. Now the Ferrari dealer is a whole different story...

Under Obama/Socialism
GM = Government Motors
Think about this:
How many cars does Porsche make for dealers? None. They are all made for customers. Porsche makes specialty cars like GT2s and GT3s for customer demand, not dealer greed. In fact, they reward their highest selling dealers with more specialty car allocations as a bonus. Porsche will always build less specialty cars than demand and knows every one will be sold at or near MSRP. While they may be selling Boxsters at $500 over invoice, they get a full $10-15K on a specialty car simply by getting one and letting demand do the rest. So a dealer doesn't sell as many Boxsters, well they won't get as many or even any GT3 allocations. It doesn't really matter if a car sales for $20K over or $5K under list, PCNA gets the same amount of the sale; so how is gouging benefiting PCNA? Sounds like just greedy people being greedy and that is completely independant of PCNA or the economy.

I don't understand the bitterness here. MSRP stands for 'Manufcturer's SUGGESTED Retail Price'. Nobody is complaining about getting 10-20% off of every other vehicle in the Porsche model line...why complain if they try to get 10-20% more? If they can find a sucker to pay $15k or more over MSRP, more power to them. If the market is there, putting extra profit on the window sticker is no different than putting the car on eBay. Maybe they want to hold onto the car for a little while to generate showroom traffic? And maybe, if you are a serious buyer, they will sell it quickly for market value.

I think a lot of dealers put high prices on specialty cars because they know they will eventually sell it. They have a chance to get a good price but mainly they have the car sit for showroom display purposes. Makes sense as long the price is reasonable.
There is way too much concern here about a few dealers marking up a car.
It's the dealers right to do it. They just have no long term vision about how it effects customers and future business. Thats why some businesses are more successful then others.
